On behalf of @kmpdu I bear the heavy duty of announcing the death of Dr.Mike Monari.
He had just completed his Internship at Meru Level 5 hospital and was headed home in Nakuru after clearing with the Medical Council in Nairobi when he met his untimely ending through a RTA.
Mike as he was fondly referred to by his peers was a brilliant doctor,so friendly, always happy and making everyone around him laugh.
He was such a kind soul,full of life.
During this painful moment our hearts go out to his family and all those who loved him.May they be consoled by the promised resurrection morning when we shall meet our loved ones again.

Last week when resolving Meru county drs strike,they county said they don't take instructions from anyone,not even Public Service Commission.
Today am in Isiolo to resolve their strike as ordered by the ELRC and the county is saying how we are their employees and they can do whatever they want to us!
This nonsense going on in counties where they mismanage healthcare workers and expect us to keep on begging will end soon.
We shall do a strike as ALL HEALTHCARE workers for Health Services Commission.
A STRIKE THAT WILL BE REMEMBERED FOR YEARS TO COME.
Our patience is running thinner than the tarmac on the Ngong-Suswa road(Part done under Uhuru).

After constructive negotiations with the County Government of Meru, KMPDU has successfully signed the Return to Work Agreement (RTWA), bringing the 45-day Meru doctors’ strike to an end.
This agreement secures the employment of additional doctors and long-awaited promotions and study leaves marking a significant step towards strengthening healthcare delivery and improving doctors’ welfare in Meru County.
We remain committed to ensuring the full implementation of the agreement and look forward to continued collaboration for better healthcare services for the people of Meru.

For years, Kenya's health sector was defined by recurring industrial actions, delayed deployment of medical interns, and unresolved human resource challenges.

Today, we are witnessing a different approach. Under CS Aden Duale's leadership, human resources for health have become a priority, dialogue has taken centre stage, and the dignity of health workers is being restored.

Today's posting of 6,700 healthcare interns, with the assurance that they will begin receiving their salaries immediately, marks a decisive break from the past, when young doctors had to demonstrate first for internship postings and then again to be paid.

The government's commitment to employ 5,000 nurses and 2,000 doctors, alongside timely internship deployment and remuneration, is a significant investment in strengthening our healthcare system and improving access to quality care for Kenyans.

There are no bad teams, only leaders who fail to unlock their team's potential. Good leadership listens, acts, and delivers. When health workers are valued, the entire nation benefits.

Unity Wins: A New Dawn for Our Interns

There was a time when young doctors had to take to the streets simply to demand internship postings and fight for salaries already guaranteed under our CBA. The struggles of 2024 tested our resolve, but they also proved the power of unity and collective action.

Today, we are proud to say that those sacrifices have borne fruit.

As confirmed by the Ministry of Health, the 2026/2027 cohort of medical interns will commence their internships on 1 July 2026, with a seamless transition into service and the timely payment of their salaries. Pre-interns have also been invited to collect their offer letters during the official flag-off ceremony on Monday, 29 June 2026.

This is more than an administrative milestone; it is the result of relentless advocacy, collective bargaining, and the unwavering solidarity of doctors who refused to accept injustice as the norm. Together, we have helped dismantle the culture of delayed postings and uncertainty that once defined the internship process.

This victory belongs to every doctor who marched, every leader who negotiated, and every member who stood firm in defending the rights and dignity of our profession.

To the incoming 2026/2027 interns, congratulations and welcome to service. May you begin your journey knowing that your predecessors stood together to make this path smoother for you.

How does the governor of Isiolo expect us to go to work when the last time he paid salaries was in March(Feb salary).This is why as @kmpdu we keep in demanding for a Health Services Commission. Our members are suffering and when we meet president ruto,we shall request for his commitment on this during his second term!!In the meantime strike continues.
