Small businesses are the heartbeat of our communities.
Recently, I visited Lekker Stop Shop in Park Avenue, Westridge, opposite Parkhurst Primary, owned by Damian and Jodi, young South African guys.
Despite criminals breaking into their shop three times, they have remained resilient and continue to serve the community with determination and pride.
Local shops like these do more than provide everyday essentials; they create jobs, support families, and keep our neighbourhoods going.
We need safer communities where hardworking business owners can thrive without fear. Let us continue to support our local businesses and stand behind those who refuse to give up.
