According to reports, Thabo had been visiting a friend in Chiawelo on Friday evening. The two were seated inside a vehicle parked outside the friend’s yard when two unknown men walked past them.
The friend says Thabo became uneasy, expressing concern that the pair might be looking for trouble. His fears would soon prove chillingly accurate.
After walking a few metres away, the two men allegedly turned back and produced firearms. The friend says they immediately ran from the vehicle in different directions. In the chaos that followed, he lost sight of Thabo.
When help arrived moments later, the vehicle was gone — and Thabo had vanished.
It was later confirmed that Thabo Sekano had been hijacked and murdered. His body was discovered near an informal settlement in Lenasia South, leaving his loved ones devastated and desperate for justice.
His family and the surviving friend are now appealing to anyone who may have information about the hijacking and killing to come forward. Anyone with information is urged to contact their nearest police station or call the Crime Stop Hotline on 08600 10111.
May his soul rest in peace. #SenzoMeyiwatrial
