Trainer Steve Knapp was awarded the California Thoroughbred Breeders Association’s Trainer of the Year earlier this week at their annual awards dinner. Knapp had one of the best years of his career in 2025, winning 58 races with earnings of over $2.2 million, many of those winnings coming from Cal-breds. The trainer has two runners this afternoon: #7 Miz Clubcali in race 3 and #1 Fionello in race 4. Fionello is owned in part by Terry Lovingier, a stalwart of the California breeding industry.
