According to a Victim Impact Statement presented in court, Sharon Otieno’s family told the High Court that they hope to reconcile with former Migori Governor Okoth Obado, as he, Michael Oyamo, and Caspal Obiero await sentencing on September 16, 2026, following their conviction over her 2018 murder.

The family asked Obado to honour his promise to purchase a plot and build a house for Sharon’s three children. They also sought compensation for nearly Sh4.7 million in legal and trial expenses, which they said they incurred after selling land and a cow to cover the costs.

As Obado appealed for leniency, citing his age and health, the family highlighted the emotional and financial challenges of raising the children without their mother.
