Ruto's mission was never to transform the state; it was to surpass his predecessor in the politics of accumulation. What was presented as reform increasingly appears to have been a project of elite consolidation, where public institutions became instruments of extraction rather than service.
The objective was not to dismantle the old order, but to perfect it , expanding its reach with greater sophistication, deeper patronage networks, and unprecedented audacity. What many hoped would be an era of renewal has instead been defined by the pursuit of power, control, and resource capture.
If Maraga hadn't been there, this probably wouldn't have been reported as widely as it's being reported now. This is how to use presence to draw attention to the things of importance.
KARAKANA ONLINE TO HOST DISCUSSION ON CREATIVE VISIBILITY
Karakana Online will host a live discussion titled "Talented & Invisible: Why the Best Creatives Are Being Ignored" on Tuesday, 16th June at 7:30 PM as part of its Art + Content = Money campaign. The session will ...
Demo pics #SaveNNP. Collins & I got left behind planting trees so that’s where we were when the teargas happened. But my placards were there to speak for me. The combo of home made and printed placards is powerful. Our vision of an artistic demo. #NationalParkNotCarPark
Sections of Uhuru Park will be hived off to "expand Uhuru Highway".
Parts of Karura Forest will be hived off "to plant tree seedlings and build rangers' accommodation units".
Parts of Nairobi National Park will be hived off "to construct parking yards for the new Bomas International Convention Centre".
Sections of Ngong Forest are being cut down for "the construction of the Ngong-Riruta rail line and an international resort and casino".
Practically every green and gazetted area within the Nairobi Metropolitan area is being targeted.
And this is place where scrutiny is highest.
Can you imagine what is happening in gazetted areas in the Rift Valley.
When pastoralists are in power, every green space is either pasture for "wega ngombe wagule yiote" or merely something to degazette, cut down and build some ugly concrete structure.
Scarcity mentality at birth.
#NairobiNationalPark is not a parking lot.
Today, we stood against plans to excise 90 acres of protected park land for a 1,300-car parking facility. Nine unarmed activists were arrested during the peaceful protest.
Protect nature. Defend civic space.

This violence was completely unnecessary. It demonstrates what environmentalists have been arguing all along, “mpende msipende” @KWSNairobiPark will lose 89 acres. My conscience is clear.

School unrest is not just a discipline problem. Many schools built for 500–600 students are now hosting 2,000–3,000 learners without corresponding expansion of dormitories, classrooms, dining halls, and sanitation facilities.
In some schools, students have to bathe in shifts because the facilities cannot handle the population. Overcrowding, lack of privacy, and constant pressure create an environment of stress and frustration that cannot be ignored.
Burning dormitories is wrong and endangers lives. But if we want lasting solutions, we must address the underlying issues: overcrowded schools, overstretched infrastructure, inadequate counselling services, and rising student stress levels.
We found evidence of construction going on inside the Nairobi National Park but @KWSKenya just confiscated our drone. Currently protests by lobby groups and environmentalists are going on over the construction.
I recently took this photo of a family of elephants only meters outside Meru Town. If they clear the forest to make way for a State Lodge, what will they do with the elephants? Shoot them?
Packed morning.
7-8am - @Arch_KE Chair George Ndege and I speak to @Hot_96Kenya on Nairobi County land scandals
9am - Peaceful protest on the grabbing of 98 acres of Nairobi National Park
Kenya is not broke by accident. It is being slowly broken by design. A nation is being taxed until it cannot breathe, borrowed against until it cannot move, and sold piece by piece until its own citizens become tenants in their homeland.
