On the occasion of the International Day of Yoga 2026, observed globally on 21st June, the Community Policing Wing of Kolkata Police, in association with various police stations across the city, organized special yoga sessions for PRONAM members in line with this year's theme, "Yoga for Healthy Ageing."
Recognizing yoga as a powerful tool for maintaining physical vitality, mental well-being, and emotional balance in later years, the sessions encouraged senior citizens to embrace a healthier and more active lifestyle. The participants enthusiastically joined the programmes, experiencing firsthand the benefits of yoga in promoting flexibility, strength, relaxation, and overall wellness.
The initiative reaffirmed Kolkata Police's commitment to the well-being of its senior citizens and to fostering a culture of healthy and graceful ageing through community engagement.

The terrorist attack on the American Center, Kolkata, on 22nd January 2002 remains a solemn reminder of the supreme sacrifice made by brave Kolkata Police personnel in the line of duty. Their courage, dedication and unwavering commitment to protecting the city continue to inspire generations of police personnel.
Today, a special commemoration ceremony was held at the US Consulate General Kolkata to honour the memory of the fallen heroes. The event was graced by Shri Dilip Ghosh, Hon’ble Minister for Rural Development, Panchayats & Animal Resources Development, Government of West Bengal, dignitaries of the US Consulate General Kolkata, and officers of Kolkata Police.
A commemorative rally was also organised, with Kolkata Police personnel participating to pay tribute to their martyred colleagues and reaffirm their commitment to the values they upheld.
Kolkata Police salutes the bravehearts who laid down their lives in service of the nation. Their sacrifice will forever be remembered with pride and gratitude.

To enhance the skills and operational capabilities of our lady police personnel, selected members from various divisions of Kolkata Police underwent a specialized training programme at the Kolkata Police Training Academy.
Upon completion of the training, the contingent demonstrated its proficiency through an impressive Riot Control Drill before the Commissioner of Police, Kolkata, Shri Ajay Nand, IPS, and other senior officers. The display featured three tactical riot-control formations, showcasing discipline, teamwork, and operational readiness in handling law-and-order situations.
The Commissioner of Police felicitated the trainees with certificates upon successful completion of the programme.

Nurturing Nature, Securing Tomorrow
On the occasion of World Environment Day, Addl CP (I), Shri Devendra Prakash Singh, IPS, along with senior officers of Kolkata Police, participated in a sapling plantation drive at the Police Training School today.
Organised jointly by the Community Policing Wing of Kolkata Police and the Forest Department, the initiative reflected a shared commitment towards environmental conservation and a greener, more sustainable future.
Here are a few glimpses from this meaningful endeavour, where every sapling planted symbolizes hope, responsibility, and a better tomorrow.
Posing as officials of Government agencies, cyber criminals duped a senior citizen by fabricating allegations of money laundering and criminal involvement, backed by forged documents carrying the names of prestigious government institutions.
Through intimidation, deception and relentless psychological pressure, they convinced the victim that he was under investigation and at risk of arrest, the victim was induced to transfer nearly ₹4.40 crore.
Acting swiftly on the complaint, the Cyber Crime Branch of Kolkata Police launched an intensive investigation. Through sustained follow-up, meticulous fund-trail analysis and relentless efforts by the investigating team, approximately ₹1 crore of the defrauded amount has been successfully recovered, providing significant relief to the victim. Efforts are continuing to trace the remaining funds.
On 08.12.2018, Md. Ishamul Haque @ Chunna was brutally attacked and killed at Simpukur Lane under Rajabagan Police Station following a verbal altercation. During the assault, Md. Basir, who courageously intervened to save the deceased, was also grievously injured.
The accused, Md. Kalam, was swiftly apprehended. A meticulous investigation led by Inspector Subrata Sarkar ensured that the facts were brought before the Court and that justice was pursued with determination and diligence.
Upon conclusion of the trial, the Hon’ble Court of the Learned Additional District & Sessions Judge, Alipore, found Md. Kalam guilty of murder and attempt to murder.
He has been sentenced to:
• Imprisonment for Life under Section 302 IPC for the murder of Md. Ishamul Haque @ Chunna.
• 10 years' Rigorous Imprisonment under Section 307 IPC for the attempted murder of Md. Basir.

A Voluntary Blood Donation Camp under the “UTSARGA” initiative was organized today by Hare Street Police Station and South East Traffic Guard.

Misleading videos and posts are being circulated on social media with false claims regarding the law and order situation in Kolkata/West Bengal.
Verification has confirmed that the visuals being shared are unrelated, and the claims are entirely baseless.
Kolkata Police is closely monitoring the spread of such misinformation, and legal action is being initiated against those responsible for circulating false content.
Citizens are urged not to share unverified information.
A misleading social media post is being circulated claiming that traffic was halted to facilitate the movement of the convoy of HCM. This claim is false and factually incorrect.
The traffic regulation seen in the circulated visuals was undertaken as part of a scheduled security and traffic arrangement in connection with the movement of the Secretary of State of the United States of America. In addition, traffic regulations are in place due to ongoing metro related work at Chingrighata.
