@WolfofX Let’s capture our daughter on film at her weakest moment and then post it on the internet. Why? Would parents do this if they couldn’t film the reaction?
@GOP__Ls Companies force retirement in order to hire cheaper. What workforce hires 75 yr olds? Spend a few days at an unemployment office. GOP out of touch as usual
The Boy in Front, the Ducklings Close Behind 💞
The little boy simply keeps walking forwards.
Behind him comes a line of tiny, golden-yellow ducklings, toddling along one after another through Qilou Old Street in Haikou. They walk so neatly that passers-by cannot help but stop, smile and take out their phones to film them.
Then a man steps into the middle of the procession.
He stands with his legs apart, seemingly wanting to see whether the ducklings will walk through.
But the ducklings stop at once.
The man steps to one side.
The little boy appears in front of them again, and the whole line immediately reforms and continues toddling after him.
Why are these little ducklings so determined to follow the boy?
In the first days of their lives, ducklings have a remarkable ability: they can form an attachment to the first image they learn to recognise and follow. This phenomenon is known as imprinting, and it helps young animals stay close to a guiding animal, usually their mother.
So, if the ducklings in the video have formed an attachment to the boy, it is not difficult to understand why they keep following him. To them, the boy may have become a familiar face they always want to see ahead of them, much like the role a mother duck plays for her brood.
What makes the scene particularly interesting is that the man cannot easily replace the person they are following.
When he steps into the middle of the group, the boy is hidden from view. The ducklings do not change direction to follow the person who has just appeared in front of them. Instead, they stop. When the boy comes back into view, the whole group sets off again.
That moment makes the scene even more endearing. The ducklings do not simply follow anyone who happens to appear in front of them. They seem to want to continue only when the person they are accustomed to following is there ahead of them again.
For an adult duck, the world may be broad and familiar. But for a young duckling, everything is new. It does not yet know where it should go, what lies ahead, or how to find its own way.
It only needs one simple thing: to know whom it should follow.
And so the little boy walks ahead, while the whole brood of ducklings follows behind.
Small, clumsy and completely unaware of the busy old street around them, they have their own simple way of avoiding getting lost: keep looking towards the familiar person ahead, and toddle after him.
@SenWarren Saying the same thing since 2001. Still no action. Warren Buffet wrote an op—ed begging George W. Bush to raise his taxes. Instead president bush gave more tax breaks to rich.
@SilkeOgLiva Republicans have to have a Covid scapegoat and Rand Paul was glad to attack Fauci. He pled the fifth every question so sound bites could not be conjured by Fox.
@JamesTate121 Refunds is what people should demand. Since Congress approval is not sought after, none of us have representation. My taxes are not to be used for ICE and my senator, that I elected, Agrees. Refund my taxes.
