Few U.S. Senators I’ve met were as passionate about the Transatlantic Alliance and about making sure adversaries paid a price as @LindseyGrahamSC was.
He visited Estonia several times. Every meeting with him was full of substance and energy.
Rest in peace, Senator Graham.
Proud of my country's initiative to strip IOC of EU funding due to allowing athletes from terrorist ruzzia compete in the next Olympics.
The entire immoral and unethical executive board of the IOC should resign.
Disgusted to see this decision from the International Olympic Committee. This is the first step down a slippery slope to letting war criminal Putin allow his doped up athletes compete in the U.S. under Russia’s flag. Glorifiers of war crimes shouldn’t be allowed in the Olympics at all, let alone allowed to compete under their own flag.
The Int Olympic Committee #IOC is an immoral organization that has caused enormous damage to the reputation of the Olympic movement. For them, starting and waging war is ok. Killing and deporting children is ok. Killing Ukrainian athletes is ok. A disgusting organization.
"The IOC has to navigate the complex geopolitical realities.." For God's sake @TheOlimpicGames . Are you insane? Russians just killed 22 people in Kyiv alone last night. This is a disgrace to the Olympic movement.
Happy 250th birthday, America!
1⃣2⃣ years, 3⃣ postings, and countless trips criss-crossing this magnificent country later - coming to know it not just from Washington, but from Mount Rushmore's fog to the coast of Maine to open roads in between - it's been a privilege to call this country home for so long. The 🇺🇸 flag standing tall on the 4th of July, at my home in Estonia as much as here in the U.S., is a small token of that respect. Grateful for everything this country has given, and for the friendship between our two nations - may it only grow stronger in the ♾ years ahead.

If my relatives who fought in World War II were alive today, they would admonish elected U.S. officials about this century’s Axis of Dictatorships — the alliance of Iran, Russia, China and North Korea...

Russia wages war not only with missiles, but with narratives. Masha and the Bear is part of the Kremlin's soft power, embedding pro-Kremlin and militaristic messaging in children's entertainment while normalising Russia's aggression and imperial ambitions.
The world would never tolerate children's content portraying Nazi symbols positively.
Soviet symbols deserve the same moral clarity. For many nations, including Estonia, they represent occupation, mass killings, deportations and crimes against humanity.

Today connects several historic events together to an awful explanation why history matters and if not stopped, the aggressors strike again:
- June 14, 1940 - Soviet military aircraft shot down Finnish passenger plane Kaleva on its daily flight from Tallinn to Helsinki. All aboard were killed, including U.S. and French diplomatic couriers;
- June 14, 1941 - occupying Soviets deported ca 10,000 Estonians overnight in filthy cattle carts to Soviet Gulags. Their guilt - being members of the families of Estonian political, economic, cultural, law enforcement and military elite;
- June 14, 2026 - hearing news of russian drone attack against Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, one of the holiest sites of the Eastern Slavic religion that putin and his cronies claim to defend and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Lavra was established around 1050 AD, moscow was first mentioned in chronicles a good century later.
- June 14, 2026 - the still-ongoing russian missile and drone attack has also hit the Kharkiv Art Museum and the Iconic Dovzhenko Film Studios in Kyiv.
This clearly is a war against nation, its culture and identity.

My mom was born on the River Ob, Siberia.

The ‘crime’? ‘Exploitation of people’.
Reality? Running a business.
Today, I took my kid to the memorial in Tallinn. To never forget
Right now, as Russians continue to strike #Kyiv with over a dozen of ballistic missiles, the Dormition Cathedral of Kyiv‑Pechersk Lavra — a UNESCO World Heritage site and priceless cultural landmark — has been struck and is burning.
A brutal assault on our people and our heritage. This is the true face of Russia’s Orthodox values.
🚨 BREAKING: Russian strike hits the historic Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, a world-famous Orthodox monastery and UNESCO site, igniting fire on the roof of the Dormition Cathedral.
If you still think this is only Putin’s war and won’t affect you — watch this.
Head of the russian Ski Federation, 7-time Olympic champion:
“Drop a serious bomb on central London — and we’d be allowed back into international sports.”
This is mainstream thinking in russia.
Today, the European Union took a major step forward.
All Member States agreed to open the first accession negotiations cluster with Ukraine and Moldova.
At the first Intergovernmental Conference on Monday, we will open the cluster on fundamentals; the backbone of the accession process.
It covers the core values and principles on which the EU is built, from the rule of law to strong democratic institutions.
This is a recognition of the determination, courage and hard work shown by both countries in advancing reforms, even in the face of immense challenges.
And a signal that the EU’s offer of peace, stability and opportunity is unmatchable.
Enlargement is a strategic choice.
By bringing our nations closer together, we strengthen peace, security and prosperity across our continent.
In a world marked by growing uncertainty, a larger European Union is in our common interest.
Enlargement remains one of the EU’s greatest success stories and our best investment in our shared future.
The Nordic-Baltic countries remain united in their support for Ukraine and their commitment to a just and lasting peace.
"Our aim is to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peace, based on international law and the UN Charter. We will work to put Ukraine in the strongest possible position to achieve that and to increase pressure on Russia to agree to a full, unconditional and immediate ceasefire to engage in meaningful negotiations."
Joint statement by the Nordic-Baltic Prime Ministers at the #NB8 Summit in Tallinn.
