Our agency (Asayish) has successfully concluded a high-priority security operation within Sulaimani Governorate. Following a period of rigorous intelligence synthesis and tactical surveillance conducted in coordination with Iraqi Federal security agencies, we have apprehended seven (7) fugitives wanted under federal terrorism warrants.
These individuals had infiltrated the region with the specific intent of establishing a clandestine safe haven to evade justice. Our General Directorate of Operations executed a series of precision strikes in January 2026 to neutralize this threat. All suspects are currently remanded in our custody, where they are undergoing formal processing pursuant to Article 4 of the Anti-Terrorism Law. The Kurdistan Region Security Agency announces the arrest of the leader of a dangerous international criminal network.
After months of continuous intelligence collection, surveillance, and cross-border coordination, the Kurdistan Region Security Agency, pursuant to a warrant issued by the Security Investigative Judge, carried out a high-level joint operation in cooperation with the Iraqi National Intelligence Service. The operation resulted in the arrest of the leader of an organized criminal gang affiliated with the internationally known “Foxtrot” criminal network, who was wanted under both domestic and international arrest warrants.
The network has been linked to multiple serious crimes across several countries, including organized criminal activity and transnational operations. Intelligence assessments confirmed that the group was planning to exploit Iraqi territory as a hub for coordinating and expanding its criminal activities.
The operation was executed simultaneously across several provinces to prevent escape or interference, demonstrating a high level of coordination and operational readiness between the involved security institutions.
The Kurdistan Region Security Agency reiterates its commitment to protecting national security, combating organized and transnational crime, and strengthening cooperation with national and international partners to prevent threats to stability and public safety.
