Calling all #GCSE and #ALevel Historians.... the event this year is bigger and better than ever - we are so lucky to have all these amazing history experts in our city.
We are VERY much looking forward to the #Blackfriars Talks @GlosHistFest this weekend - especially @dgjones and @sarahgristwood which we are attending. Tickets are still available so don't miss out on this fabulous event set in the heart of our city https://t.co/DnZ1lnqWkE
Ex RAF Bomber Command and King's Alumnus Graham Terrett, and ex Royal Naval Officer Gordon Ravenscroft, gave a fascinating insight into life serving as young men in WWII, followed by some probing questions from our Senior School pupils. @KSGEnrichment#KingsSchoolLife
"We all want to create a society with no more racism, no more antisemitism, no more accusations against 'others'. I am absolutely convinced that each generation needs to be taught these lessons." #SusanPollack
Our students have had the opportunity this morning to listen in to @HolocaustUK live broadcast with Holocaust survivor, Susan Pollack MBE. Absolutely heartbreaking to hear but such an important story to share #HolocaustMemorialDay@KSGHistory
Super proud of our two Fifth Form Teams for taking part in a Model United Nations today with @MarlingSchool@TheCryptSchool and @archway_school. Excellent diplomatic skills on show with pupils winning 'Best Delegate', 'Best Speaker' and a prize for their diplomatic skills.
Incredible opportunity for Emma Wray (Y10), Alex Wainwright (U6) and Josh Taylor (Y10) to lay a wreath at the Menin Gate during the Last Post ceremony. All did brilliantly- huge asset to the school!
Briefed with writing the card for the Battlefields Trip wreath ceremony at the Menin Gate, U6 pupils Tallulah and Beth sought help from Museum Archivist, David Evans. A fitting 'King's' tribute to our fallen hero. Lest we forget @KingsGlos#battlefields#Remembrance#schooltrip
Thank you @henryhemming for your visit today - a fascinating talk on the use of fake news to bring America into WW2 - who knew fake news was a problem in 1939! @GlosHistFest#KingsSchoolLife
Just to let you all know. The history festival always starts on the 1st Saturday in September. The blackfriars talks start the Saturday after. The dates next year will be in the festival programme.
KSG History and Politics Department preparing for #HMD2019 with the @HolocaustUK HET through a talk by Holocaust survivor #HarrySpiro interviewed by @r 100 GCSE and A Level historians in attendance.
Our 1st and 2nd Form pupils have made a stunning display of poppies, suspended from a camouflage net, to remember the King's fallen 1914-1918. There is information about the 'fallen' pupil on the back of each poppy. #WeWillRememberThem
The historians are on tour in magnificent Munich. 19 pupils and 3 staff did not enjoy the 2.30am departure but we've had a brilliant 4 hour walking tour of the city with local guide Astrid. A particular hit was the memorial to Sophie Scholl.
