Fabrizio Romano on Lucas Bergvall...
"We know Tottenham are busy with the Sandro Tonali deal but they are ready to consider the exit of Lucas Bergvall. The Sweden midfielder has told Tottenham directly, with his agents, he would like to try a new chapter in his career. Not because he is not happy at Tottenham, not because he believes he was wrong to go to Tottenham, remember he was 50/50 joining Tottenham or Barcelona. Tottenham closed the deal. Bergvall is still convinced Tottenham was the right step but now Tottenham are going for the likes of Tonali, Tottenham won’t have the space for him to develop and to grow. £45m-£50M will be enough to get a deal done. Several clubs are on alert."

I think we currently don’t have the right squad setup to allow youngsters to continuously flourish
The issue we have had last couple seasons is that we had to RELY on 18-20 years olds (Gray, Bergvall, Tel, Odobert etc) because everyone else got injured and we didn’t buy enough ready now players to take the burden off
These kids are supposed to learn from the experienced players and given the chance to make mistakes to develop
But we have had such an unsettled environment the last couple years that we basically needed these kids to perform consistently and to a very high level which is extremely hard
When you look at teams like City or Liverpool they have a majority established side but they are able to integrate a Rio, Oreilly, Rico Lewis etc because the rest of the team carries that consistency
We haven’t got that environment/identity YET so I think players like Bergvall will lose out because of bad timing more than anything
Even think back to Poch days we had a majority “experienced” side even if some of them were young in age which made it a lot easier for youngsters like Son and Dele at the time to develop (Kane was young in age but he was way more mature and consistent vs his peers)
I just think fans are probably harsher on Gray and Bergvall etc because we have seen them have to “carry” a team but aren’t developed enough yet to do so, so their mistakes get exasperated

In other news, in case you hadn't worked it out already because it would be utterly absurd after De Zerbi's early days in the job, but Spurs hold no interest in signing Mason Greenwood this summer despite links.
