The authorities have failed us again. Paul Sullivan's escape from justice was inevitable, and the State must be criticised for aiding him in becoming a fugitive from justice. Paul Sullivan did not simply flee; he was advised by politicians and government officials who committed crimes and obstructed justice alongside him. This is the same thing that happened with the Guptas and Bushiri. It also exposes the fact that wealthy and corrupt foreigners in South Africa can easily evade justice. The news that this criminal left the country is no surprise. An ordinary South African would have been indicted from day one after revelations that they had committed crimes in our country, but the State chose to assist him in evading justice because they allowed Paul Sullivan to undermine state security agencies and law enforcement under their watch. These are the things that will allow countries like the US to make a strong case that South Africa is a failed state and that those in positions of power can evade justice. This signals the collapse of the justice system and reflects badly on our country.

I was driving in Joburg with someone from Holland. He asked me why cars were zig-zagging instead of driving in a straight line. I explained that we’ve become very skilled at avoiding potholes.
He looked at me with some surprise when I said that our robots also often don’t work.

[BREAKING NEWS] KZN Premier Thami Ntuli has officially endorsed Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi for a second term as SAPS provincial commissioner.

The announcement comes after a meeting with SAPS National Commissioner General Fannie Masemola, where the future of Mkhwanazi’s tenure was discussed.

His current term is set to end on 30 March. Ntuli’s endorsement paves the way for Mkhwanazi to continue leading police operations in KwaZulu-Natal.
