The Southern Conference on Children in Atlanta, Georgia provides training to teachers, administration, and families during their yearly conference. This year it is being held on January 25th and its theme is "Behavioral and Mental Health in Early Childhood".
When researching Webinars that relate to my teaching field, I came across TeachingStrategies's Webinars on Demand! I was able to create an account and view a webinar about "Meaningful Interactions in Kindergarten" https://t.co/Rh88VeWkH4
While I do not currently use a LISTSERV in my classroom that delivers emails to parents, I do similarly use ClassDojo where I send mass text messages to parents/guardians.
I have never heard of LISTSERV prior to my ED505 course. After doing some research, I came to the realization that I have had experience using a similar platform "MailChimp" to send updates to people who subscribed to my former employer.
I also am in the process of completing my Master's Degree from UWA (which qualifies ad professional development) and still receive information from JSU when they are holding free public professional development seminars.
There are numerous year-round professional development opportunities that I have access to as a teacher in Alabama. So far, my experience with professional development has come through opportunities provided by my university as a pre-service teacher or my current employer.
Now that I am employed, I have been able to participate in professional development through my school system such as "Quality Questioning" and a continued AMSTI certification for the first and second year sciences in Kindergarten.
I have found that the school to home connection that is implemented through apps like Seesaw and Class Dojo create connection and accountability between the teacher, parents, and students. I highly recommend using apps like these for parental involvement!
Hello! I am so excited to be using this platform as an additional resource in my professional network "toolbox"! Tweet me suggestions of some accounts to follow!
