While shooting CUTTHROAT ISLAND in Malta, I brought my 16mm camera to make a black-and-white short film. When the production blew up the pirate ship, I captured the massive explosion. This was one of the last big-budget studio films to rely almost entirely on practical in-camera effects and stunts. Regardless of its initial reception, making this film was the adventure of a lifetime.

サラ・コブナー『帝国の虜囚』を読んだ。大東亜戦争で日本はアジア諸国に侵略した結果、多くの人々を捕虜とし、まともな待遇を与えなかった結果多くの死者を出した。本書はなぜそのようなことが起きたかを分析している。結論からいえば、日本は計画にもとづいて捕虜を殺戮したわけではない。むしろ、捕虜を適切に扱う計画をろくに建てなかったからこそ殺戮した。

　ある時期まで、大日本帝国は捕虜待遇に関して「近代化の旗手」と呼べるレベルにあった。日本は1886年にジュネーブ条約に加盟し、赤十字運動にもオスマン帝国と共に非ヨーロッパ圏では初の加盟国となっている。日清戦争では約1500人の捕虜を適切に処遇したほか、中国人や朝鮮人の負傷者の治療も行っていた。

　その後もハーグ陸戦条約に批准したり、日露戦争や青島攻略戦などで捕虜に適切な待遇を与えたりするなど、国際法に則る精神を維持し続けた日本ではあったが、1930年代に諸外国から満州の占領に介入され始めると、国際社会から離脱し「無法国家」となっていく。

　こうした態度は1929年の「不慮の待遇に関する条約」についても表れ、民間人への保護を提供するよう定めたこの条約の批准に陸海軍はそろって反対した。結果、37年に開戦した日中戦争では中国人捕虜を殺害する事例も頻発するようになった。

　太平洋戦争開始以後は、ますます捕虜の扱いが杜撰になっていった。日本は破竹の勢いでアメリカやイギリスの植民地となっていたアジアの地を占領し始めた。それとともに連合軍の兵士や、現地の民間人など、多い時には30万人の捕虜を抱えるようになった。ただし、日本軍はそれだけの数の捕虜を扱うための計画を事前に建てていなかった。

　結果、日本の捕虜待遇は場当たり的なものとなり、各地の責任者の裁量に任されざるをえなくなった。ところによっては捕虜による自治が与えられる収容所もあったが、捕虜にろくに食事を与えなかったり、劣悪な衛生状態を強いたり、強制労働を課したりする収容所も多くあった（連合軍の兵士のみならず、アジアの人々にも強制労働を課して作られた泰緬鉄道はその中でも有名な事例である）。赤十字から送られてくる救恤品を横領していた監視兵も多くいた。

　収容所のための人員が不足していたので、急遽朝鮮や台湾から派遣されてきた監視兵も多くいた。彼らは英語などの諸外国語をろくに喋れず、捕虜の待遇の仕方もろくに学んでいなかった。むしろ、身長も腕力も勝る連合軍兵士を「統率するためには暴力を行使するよう指導されていた」。このように日本人に命じられた通りのことを行った結果、戦後BC級戦犯として罰された植民地の人々は少なくない。

　また、朝鮮の仁川や京城に設えられた収容所の描写は注目に値する。日本はこれらの収容所への取材を世界中のマスメディアに許可し、あたかも適切に捕虜を処遇しているかのように装う姑息な計略を採った。結果、仁川や京城に収容された捕虜はまともな待遇をうけられたのだが、一方で収容所の外の朝鮮人のなかには「ひどい暮らしをしている者もいた」。朝鮮人の暴動が起き、刑務所に押し入ろうとしてきたこともあると言う。

　結局、戦争を通じて連合軍の兵士に限っても13万人以上が捕虜となり、その内35000人以上が死亡した。27％もの死亡率を出すに至った責任は、必ずしも日本だけに求められるとは限らない。著者も述べるとおり、友軍の攻撃によって亡くなった捕虜も多くいる。とはいえ、それに関しても捕虜の輸送用の船を護衛する船が足りなかったり、赤十字の旗などの標識を設置していなかったりと、やはり日本側の責任によるところも大きい。

　著者曰く、「大日本帝国の捕虜となった不幸な人々にとって、生き残れるかどうか、どうやって生き延びるかの問題は、いわば運任せの過酷な博打のようなものであった」。日本は無謀な戦争を開始して敗れたが、捕虜をどう扱うかをろくに考えていなかったという意味でも無謀だった。とはいえ、今日の日本では日本人の被害のみが強調され、捕虜の死はまともに記憶されていない。

中国人の友人に伊佐さんの訪中は話題になってるのかと尋ねたら、「全く話題になってない。中国人はそもそももう日本への関心自体弱くなってきている。日本の災害対策の遅さなどが笑い者にされていて、そのAI動画などがbilibili（中国版YouTube）で流行している。ただし高市早苗には早く総理を降りてほしい。なぜなら中国でちいかわ映画が見られないから」とのことでした。。。色々悲しくなってしまいますね。
日本国内はこんなに紛糾してるのに中国は高みの見物なんだなって。。。ちいかわ、、、😅

当時の映画ノートをめくったら、1992年8月19日に江東リッツで観ていました。

サンクト・ペテルブルクのエルミタージュ宮殿やエカテリーナ宮殿でのロケ、さらにイルクーツクには200年前の市街地を再現した巨大なセットを建設。

今あらためて考えても、ものすごい規模の映画だなあ。

What should make us reflect is that these were the most advanced civilizations of their age, and they never saw it coming. Once it began, they could not stop it. As the historian Robert Drews once wrote: "Within a period of forty to fifty years at the end of the thirteenth and the beginning of the twelfth century almost every significant city in the eastern Mediterranean world was destroyed, many of them never to be occupied again."

The people who lived through it did not know they were living at the end of an age. No one ever does...

Ich kaufe jetzt schon seit Jahren immer mal wieder Filme bei Apple, vor allem wenn sie gerade mal im Angebot sind. Ich dachte, dass ich mir die dann ja auch noch in ein paar Jahren immer wieder anschauen kann! Weit gefehlt!!!

Leider muss ich immer wieder feststellen, dass gekaufte Filme nicht mehr abrufbar sind! Es handelt sich um keinen Einzelfall! Es betrifft ungefähr 5% meiner Bibliothek!!!

Die Cover der Filme erscheinen zwar noch in der Bibliothek aber Apple bietet sie einfach nicht mehr an, obwohl ich sie nicht gemietet, sondern gekauft habe! Ich habe auf “KAUFEN” geklickt @AppleTV!

Kann es sein, dass ich eine andere Auffassung davon habe, was es bedeutet etwas zu kaufen??

Sowas ist echt unverschämt!!! Für mich ist das Betrug! Auch wenn das irgendwo versteckt in den AGB steht! Wenn ein gekaufter Film aus dem Streamingangebot genommen wird, sollte man automatisch den Kaufpreis erstatten!

Bitte teilt das, damit Apple antwortet!

▫️but swinging arms too much put heavy load on shoulder joints, led to overheating (and robot couldn’t finish 400m)
▫️robot invented the new running style on its own (hands held up near face to reduce shoulder load while legs could keep trucking)

Amazon attributed the disaster to a backend glitch that mistakenly published the entire 95-minute movie on a page meant only for trailers, allowing subscribers to stream it for free. Adding insult to injury, tech-savvy users quickly ripped the pristine footage, which is now circulating widely on piracy websites. Ultimately, this is a multimillion-dollar catastrophe. But even if Amazon cuts massive settlement checks to smooth things over, they have severely damaged industry trust, and that is something money simply cannot buy.

『映画ちいかわ 人魚の島のひみつ』が公開24日間で興行収入92.8億円、動員645万人。100億が見えてきました。

ところがこの映画、製作委員会は3社しかありません。しかも原作の単行本を出している講談社の名前が、そこにない。

「なぜヒットしたか」の記事は沢山あるのですが、現役でIPライセンスを担当している人間として気になるのは、「ちいかわ」ビジネスの裏側のほうです。

ちいかわの版権ライセンス窓口であるスパイラルキュートを調べた人は多いけれど、その会社の上にもう1社、GPS HOLDINGSという持株会社があることはあまり知られていない。

さらに、その持株会社の40%を持っているのが『コップのフチ子』を生んだキタンクラブの創業者だということも、スパイラルキュートの川上さんがどんな考えでキャラビジネスを組み立ててきたかも、ほとんど記事になっていません。

今回は「ちいかわ」などキャラIPのコングロマリット、GPS HOLDINGSについて詳しく書きました。

ICC赤根智子所長への米国の制裁、話を単純化しすぎると見誤る。

米国・イスラエル側の言い分は、

「俺たちはICCを作ったローマ規程に加盟していない。なんでICCに裁かれるんだ」

というもの。

一方ICC側は、

「イスラエルが加盟しているから裁くのではない。ICCの管轄を認めたパレスチナの領域で起きた犯罪だから裁く」

という理屈をとっている。

一番簡単なたとえは、

アメリカ人が東京で犯罪を犯して、

「俺は日本の刑法に同意してないから、日本の裁判所では裁けない」

とは普通なら言えない、という話。

本人の国籍ではなく「どこで犯罪を犯したか」で裁判権が生じるからだ。

ただし、現実の国際法はもう少し複雑。

たとえば日本にいる米兵ですら、公務中の行為については日米地位協定上、米国側が第一次裁判権を持つ場合がある。

つまり、

「日本国内で起きたんだから100％日本が裁く」

というほど、国家間の裁判権は単純ではない。

だからICC問題でも本当の争点は、

「非加盟国だから絶対に管轄できない」

ではなく、

「加盟国・管轄受諾国の領域で非加盟国の人間が犯した犯罪まで、ICCが裁けるのか」

という話になる。

そして、ここで面白いのがプーチン。

ロシアもICC非加盟国。

それでもICCは、ウクライナが自国領域についてICCの管轄を受諾していることを根拠に、プーチンへ逮捕状を出した。

この時、米国はプーチンの戦争犯罪について国際的な責任追及を支持してきた。

ところが同じような法理でイスラエル指導者にICCの管轄が及ぶと、

今度はICCの裁判官や所長本人を米国が制裁する。

ここはかなり重要だと思う。

「ICCの管轄論に法的な争点がある」

ことと、

「気に入らないICCの判断をした裁判官個人を経済制裁する」

ことは別問題。

さらに言えば、

ロシア人を裁くICCは歓迎するが、
イスラエル人を裁くICCは制裁する、

では「法の支配」というより、

「誰を裁くかによってICCへの評価を変えているのでは？」

という疑問は当然出てくる。

赤根氏への制裁を考えるなら、
「日本人だから守れ」「米国が同盟国だから黙れ」の二択ではなく、

① ICCの管轄権の法的妥当性

② 米国による裁判官個人への制裁の妥当性

③ ロシアとイスラエルで米国の態度は整合しているのか

この3つを分けて考えた方がいい。

Menos mal quedó grabado sino nadie iba a creerle !!

Una escena impresionante se registró la tarde de este martes, día 18, en el centro de Bauru, en el interior del estado de São Paulo.

Dos autos chocaron en el cruce de las calles Marcondes Salgado y Antônio Alves.

Por la fuerza del impacto, uno de los vehículos salió despedido hacia un concesionario de autos.

Pero lo que llamó la atención fue cómo terminó todo.

El auto entró por el estacionamiento del establecimiento y se detuvo perfectamente encajado entre dos vehículos que estaban en exhibición, sin chocar con ninguno de ellos.

Parecía incluso que la conductora simplemente había entrado al lugar para estacionarse.

A pesar del fuerte choque y de la impresionante escena, nadie resultó herido.

Las dos conductoras se encuentran bien y el incidente se saldó únicamente con daños materiales.
