Already 2 weeks since my Half Marathon run in support of Advance Myanmar and the work we do to support people in Burma opposing the attempted military coup. There is still time to donate: https://t.co/KhyqQVUTtL
“This is a humiliation for the military-controlled embassy in London. It was ridiculous that they ever thought they could get away with holding an open dialogue event when open dialogue is banned in Burma."

The Burmese military earn tens of millions of dollars a month from gas revenue, money that is spent on jets which bomb schools and hospitals. SED Energy Holdings is using a loophole in EU sanctions to work on a gas project in Burma/Myanmar.

Everyone at Burma Campaign UK is saddened to learn of the passing of Rimond Htoo, former General Secretary of the Karenni National Progressive Party.

If you live in London, join us at the Myanmar embassy next Thursday to protest the 'Open Dialogue' event organised by the Burmese military to try and legitimise its rebranded regime. Join us and @StarsMyanmar to say NO to the Burmese military 'Open Dialogue' - propaganda - event.
This thread is only a fraction of what I've seen & what people told me in the Sagaing region of Myanmar.
If any editors would be interested in any stories about Sagaing, the people, fighters, refugees, war crimes, drone units etc, or if anyone know of any editors who might, my DMs are open!
Across resistance-held areas people have had to dig bomb shelters in their backyards. Holes in the ground often covered up with nothing more than some logs, thin plates & sand.
It's illustrative of a people abandoned by the world, having to resort to only themselves for survival
Hospital staff have had to move their practice into secret locations. Homes somewhere in town or undiscloved locations out in the forest or countryside. All to keep the facility and its patients safe from airstrikes.
Women are now giving birth on farms without proper equipment.
What I found especially shocking was the obvious and deliberate targeting of hospitals in resistance-held territories.
I visisted a number of facilities, and all had been bombed out of service by the junta. All the deny people living here any kind of medical care.
Due to its distance from the national borders of India and Thailand, Sagaing has mostly been overlooked by international coverage of the war in Myanmar 🇲🇲, yet it is this region which has become the epicenter of PDF resistance against the military regime.
I have just come back Myanmar 🇲🇲 where I spent two weeks traveling around the resistance-held territories of the Sagaing region. Its a remote region which no other foreign press has managed to visit since the start of the war five years ago.
I'll share some impressions below 🧵
Aung San Suu Kyi is still illegally detained. Only the location of her detention has changed.
Moving Aung San Suu Kyi isn’t about change or reform, it’s about public relations designed to preserve military rule. No-one should be fooled.

Free Burma’s Political Prisoners. More than 14,000 political prisoners in Burma are being held in appalling conditions, subjected to torture, severe beatings and medical neglect. #blueshirt4burma#BlueShirtDay#BlueShirtCampaign
“If the Burmese military regime were genuine about reform, they could release all 14,000 political prisoners today,” said Minn Tent Bo, Advocacy and Communications Officer at Burma Campaign UK. https://t.co/FpRXGk02vU
Honoured to stand side by side with #Rohingya elders, brothers and sisters at this significant moment for our community, as we unveiled this memorial alongside the Lord Mayor of Newcastle, Cllr Henry Gallagher.
This video, in Rohingya language, captures the true message of this memorial: giving voice to our people, honouring those we have lost and reflecting the strength and resilience of our community.
“It will give a voice to all those who were silenced and recognise the resilience of the survivors… It will ensure their suffering is not ignored nor forgotten.” — Cllr Henry Gallagher. @NewcastleCC
