In the high-stakes world of professional wrestling, where athletes push their bodies to the limit every night, accidents are inevitable. Yet, what should have been a minor house show mishap has spiraled into something far uglier: targeted harassment, death threats, and bullying that forced one of WWE’s brightest young stars to lock down her social media.
On a recent WWE live event in Birmingham, England, Women’s Intercontinental Champion Sol Ruca went for a springboard crossbody in a fatal four-way match involving Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan. The landing looked awkward Ruca appeared to clip Morgan’s leg, and Morgan sold the impact by holding her knee and limping. Videos spread quickly online, sparking concern for Morgan’s well-being. https://t.co/tcifrTQ7xa
Here’s the thing: Liv Morgan was fine. She finished the match, retained her title, and soon after posted on social media downplaying any injury, joking about “running to London” as the “f***ing GOAT.” She appeared on subsequent programming without issue. It was a house show spot in a multi person match miscommunications and rough landings happen constantly in this business. Some analysts even noted Morgan seemed out of position. https://t.co/mgilejv3TU
Despite this, a vocal segment of Liv Morgan’s fans unleashed relentless attacks on Sol Ruca. Criticism turned into abuse: death threats, relentless bullying, and calls for her to be “sent back to NXT” or worse. The backlash was so severe that Ruca made her X (Twitter) account private and blacked out her profile picture to escape the onslaught. A 27-year-old (born August 1999) athlete had to hide from the very fans who claim to love the sport. https://t.co/OOVOsxOBDX
This is profoundly sad and entirely unacceptable. Sol Ruca is still early in her wrestling career, with roughly four years of experience after transitioning from a strong acrobatics and gymnastics background with no prior pro wrestling training. She’s already captured multiple titles, including the Women’s Intercontinental Championship, and brings explosive, high-flying athleticism that stands out on the main roster. Her potential is enormous, and she’s delivering in big spots despite being relatively new to the ring. https://t.co/UL8eGT7TMY
Much of the hate directed at her seems rooted in tribalism Liv Morgan fans protecting their favorite at all costs. Yet most of these keyboard warriors have never stepped foot in a ring and couldn’t dream of performing the demanding, risk-filled maneuvers Sol executes regularly. Botches and adjustments (like tweaks to her finisher for safety) are part of every wrestler’s growth, especially one as young and athletic as Ruca. Blaming her entirely ignores the collaborative nature of pro wrestling and the chaos of a four way match.
Equally disappointing is Liv Morgan’s silence. As a veteran and champion, she has a platform and responsibility. A simple public statement “It was just a spot, accidents happen, leave Sol alone”could have de-escalated the situation and protected a co-worker from bullying. Instead, there’s been no visible pushback against fans attacking another performer. In an industry built on respect and camaraderie backstage, this feels like a missed opportunity to lead by example.
Wrestling fandom has a toxicity problem. Passion is great, but turning it into death threats over a non-injury in a non-televised match crosses every line. Sol Ruca deserves support as she develops into a potential cornerstone of the women’s division not harassment that drives her offline. Fans should celebrate the athleticism and risks these performers take, not tear them down when human error occurs.
It’s time for wrestling communities to do better. Support your favorites without destroying others. Sol Ruca is an amazing talent with a bright future. Let’s lift her up instead of tearing her down. @we_all_are_same
@WrestleNotice Unfortunately it’s already written @wwe have it set in stone , we know this is what’s going to happen so yep it’s King Jay I’m sorry to say
Liv Morgan fans are toxic piles of 💩mostly bitter men in their late 40s ganging up on a 27 year-old.
Useless, empty lives reduced to a faded Liv poster, one sweaty writing hand, and a roll of toilet paper (or a crusty sock for special occasions).
