First weekend in March can mean only one thing - the 32nd annual BISMUN. 28 schools joined us for a weekend of high quality debate. Congratulations to all the KWS students involved, especially our sixth formers who acted as committee chairs - a superb effort!
Today we welcomed back 17 Old Kingswoodians to talk to Year 12 about the career paths they have followed since leaving school. Lots of insights shared - thanks to all who gave up their time, and great to see so many familiar faces!
This evening the History Society was delighted to welcome @NicolaTallis. Our thanks to her for offering us a fascinating insight into the life of one of the fifteenth century's great survivors - a super way to start the new term.
Today our sixth formers are representing various countries in our own version of COP26. Some intense lobbying going on here - hopefully a prelude to some practical solutions to the climate crisis!
Super results for our Y13 leavers today. After a sixth form journey like no other, we're delighted that so many are now heading off to their first choice universities. Congrats to them all - time for a well deserved celebration!
After goodness knows how long, it was great to watch some of our sixth formers treading the boards once more this evening. Thanks to @KWS_Drama - a taste of things to come!πππ
On the eve of Prince Philip's funeral, it was good to see some of our sixth formers talking about the value of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme on BBC Points West. I think they have two more expedition days to go, with some glorious weather to accompany them as they hike!
Last night we hosted John McCarthy, who talked about his years as a hostage in Beirut. A compelling story of friendship and the human spirit triumphing in the face of almost unbelievable adversity - quite remarkable. Thanks to @theed_ucator once again for organising!
Today we hosted our first online MUN Conference. Congratulations to the 130 delegates from 13 schools who took part, and well done to KWS sixth formers James, Saho, Phoebe, Elli, Theo, Marianna, Rob, Fergus, Holly, Naomi, Rose, Polina and Jacob for some fantastic chairing!πππ
Great to welcome former Attorney General Dominic Grieve for a fascinating Q&A last night. Since September we've hosted Jacob Rees-Mogg, Wera Hobhouse, Lord Griffiths & Ann Widdecombe - thanks to @theed_ucator for organising such a lively programme of political speakers!
Absolute delight to be a part of tonight's Q&A with Justin Webb. Such a privilege to hear someone so knowledgeable share his thoughts on all things US politics - thanks to @JustinOnWeb for giving up his time to be with us and @theed_ucator for organising!
On Friday we were delighted to welcome Jacob Rees-Mogg MP for a live Q&A on Teams. The discussion ranged widely, with everything from Covid to Brexit in the spotlight. Thanks to @theed_ucator for organising - we look forward to welcoming Bath MP Wera Hobhouse next month!
Medicine remains one of the most competitive university courses in the country, so we're delighted that five Kingswood students will start their training to become a doctor this autumn - congratulations to them all!
This autumn, Kingswood students are heading off to 43 different universities. After the twists and turns of the last six months, we wish them all the very best of luck! https://t.co/2OzKvCiF0T
This weekend saw Kingswood play host to another successful BISMUN - the 29th! Well done to all who took part, and especially our chairing teams - as always, they rose to the challenge magnificently!
A pleasure to attend our third TeachMeet this evening. Colleagues from a range of local schools sharing ideas and good practice, all accompanied by the obligatory cheeseboard. Thanks as always to @theed_ucator for spearheading this initiative!
