The KWS Library is reading with pride this June. We have literature on display and on the ePlatform to celebrate and promote great LGBTQIA+ books. There will be pride activities in the library every Thursday and our Book Awards Club focus is "The Boy I Love" by @whusseyauthor.
Want to make a difference this summer? Harpenden Library is looking for Summer Reading Challenge Volunteers from 4 July to 5 September. Anyone over 14 can apply via the Hertfordshire County Council Website.

We have reached May in our Year 8 National Year of Reading challenge. This month, we invite you to read mystery, horror and thriller books. Our book recommendation board is ready for your suggestions. We hope you enjoy some frighteningly good stories!

World Book Night invites adults to join the Reading Hour from 7-8pm. Suggestions include to dedicate time to read alone, listen to an audiobook, participate in a book club meeting or to read to children at bedtime.
At KWS, all staff are invited to the library after lessons.
The KWS Book Club loved their night out at the Trinity School Book Awards ceremony. Highlights were: seeing our student response to "The Book of Stolen Dreams" in the exhibition; meeting David Farr; listening to the authors and enjoying the view. Thanks to the staff involved.
The next session of the KWS Library Book Awards Club is all about the @carnegiemedals. We look forward to introducing the students to the books on the shortlist this year and trying to predict the winner.
It's British Science Week! Our student library assistants have put together a great display of books to encourage students to ask and answer their own scientific questions. We are also supporting students to enter the the KWS Science week poster and treasure hunt competitions.
Two days to go! World Book Day is on 5 March 2026 and here in the KWS Library, we are looking forward to celebrating it. The new books are proving popular.
All students have received their WBD token, remember to use it by 15 March.

Marking Ramadan in the KWS library with a collection of books supporting reflection, community, and celebration. The books on display are written by Muslim authors, discuss Muslim heritage or have Muslim characters.

At KWS Library, we are marking Holocaust Memorial Day. We remember the millions of people murdered under Nazi persecution and also in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur. We have a selection of books on display to encourage students to learn and empathise. #HolocaustMemorialDay
KWS Library is supporting the National Year of Reading with our National Year of Reading Book Board! The board has already been shown in our Whole School Celebration Assembly. Staff and students are adding book reviews for the genre of the month - January is Crime.
