Earlier in the tournament, Lionel Messi didn’t get a yellow card or even a VAR check for a similar challenge.

@StevenPeakeKSR The irony in this is that Algeria was eliminated from the 1982 World Cup in a similar situation involving Austria and West Germany. Look up the “Disgrace of Gijon”. It will be very interesting how that game plays out tomorrow.

@StevenPeakeKSR Stoppage time was 7 and they scored at 7:54. I reffed KY high school soccer for years. We stop the clock for stoppages and start it again when we resume. The time on the clock is always the time left in the game like every other sport. Stoppage time makes no sense.

@FreddyLA7 Freddy how would you feel about getting rid of stoppage time in soccer and just having the clock stop and start like every other sport so when the game ends is not a subjective decision by the referee?
