Dreambox is a great math app that teachers are using in their classrooms to engage students and allow them to work at their level. Teachers are using it as individual work during class time. #gilmaned210
Laurel 2nd graders are participating in an after school math Interventon. They receive individual support and also independent practice using Dreambox, our online math program.
My SMART goal is to find useful and effective digital resources to use in the classroom. When finding good digital resources, it is important to consider UDL and how the online tool will accommodate everyone, which this article discusses #gilmaned210
Using interactive learning menus in the classroom gives each student a choice in how they want to represent their knowledge. When students can show what they know in a way that utilizes their strengths and interests, they will be more motivated and engaged. #gilmaned210
@attipscast- "Are the experiences you design as a teacher helping students like school or not? How can we design learning so that we don't need accomodations in the first place?" @CAST_UDL@GaETConf#agentsofchange#GaETC21
When I do my lesson plan, I want to implement a blended learning style that combines hands-on and digital learning. This tweet shows what that looks like in the classroom. #gilmaned210
Trent 8th ILA took blended learning to a different level this week. Students rotated to DIFFERENT teachers where they did a combo of hands-on & digital learning. Students loved getting a new perspective and voice. @kellyKRCcarter@MusoshaTrent @robinson_tms @Trent_Principal
The SAMR model lays out *4 tiers of online learning*—substitution, augmentation, modification, and redefinition. Take a closer look at good classroom practices at each level in the model.

This tweet is a great example of how the 4 c's are integrated into 21-century learning. Students are able to learn in a transformative way and I can definitely see myself implementing something like this in my future classroom. #gilmaned210
Teaching a lesson about Empathy to 4th graders as we prepare to use the 4 C’s while working in groups. Students used @JamboardEDU to state how they can show Empathy to others. Then we used our skills to build paper towers #teambuilding
@maureen_gilman ..meaning technology is a big part of the fundamental shift that needs to occur. Students need to learn in ways that accommodate their skill sets so that they are learning beyond just the content. (2/2) #gilmened210#fundamentalshift
@maureen_gilman I really enjoyed this podcast because it emphasizes school beyond teaching the subjects and giving out grades. I thought it was really interesting when it said schools, "prep for tests, we give a test, and we move on. Learning is supposed to be an iterative process," (1/2)
@Jessierindos_@maureen_gilman I agree, testing and moving on is not a productive way to learn content. Students need to become educated in ways to make them become lifelong learners. #gilmaned210
@kwatt581@maureen_gilman I agree with this, students need to use technology as a tool when needed but it is also constantly changing so teaching them to be lifelong adaptable learners is so important
This tweet did a good job of explaining what the digital divide is and it linked resources that propose solutions to close the gap which is very helpful. #gilmaned210
The #digitaldivide is a major problem for students in all 50 states–with 15-16 million students without adequate internet or devices– but is most pronounced in rural communities & households with Black, Latinx, & Native American students. Full report here:https://t.co/KKP60PHTqx
This article has a new perspective on digital distractions. As long as technology is used, there will always be a digital distraction. So, we should teach students how to manage digital distractions in order to improve their learning. #gilmaned210
My SMART goal is to find useful and reliable digital resources that can be used effectively in the classroom. This article mentions different platforms that can promote reading effectively through apps and websites. #gilmaned210
This video shows that when teachers and students make connections with one another, it can transform the classroom environment and make everyone feel a part of a community. #gilmaned210
How do you plan to build your classroom community in the new year? Consider a daily warm welcome—you'll encourage strong relationships and a sense of belonging that lasts all year long.
My goals for this course: learn how to incorporate technology into the classroom in a productive way, create a digital portfolio, and create a lesson plan that integrates technology #gilmaned210
