The final episode. My gift to my loyal and mighty audience - 250k downloads and counting. Mixed orientation marriage is a THING. Much more than you know. Lots of James Hollis quotes in this one. Time to find a new MYTH. Time to find a new WHY.
In this final ep of the OurVoices Podcast, host @K_Kalbli shares wisdom she's accumulated over the last 8 years of producing this podcast, and over a decade of learning and healing from her own experience in a mixed-orientation marriage.

@CareyBrian@rady_aphrodite@jdoyleDoyle1 Simple, anyone who wishes to be perceived as an adult or has an inner sense that they are an adult is an adult. This is not complicated.
@CareyBrian@rady_aphrodite@jdoyleDoyle1 Gendered social roles are downstream of sex. We are being asked to conceive of trans identifying males as women, aka female, which necessitates the redefining of the words woman/female, but to what, no one seems to know. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
@CareyBrian@rady_aphrodite@jdoyleDoyle1 If a male gorilla doesnโt know or have an internal sense that he is male, or care whether or not he is perceived as male by his family group, is he still male?
@CareyBrian@rady_aphrodite@jdoyleDoyle1 I reject the subjective fiction that what makes women women has zero to do with our physiology. But then, you already know that. Performative obtuseness is convenient but not convincing.
@CareyBrian@rady_aphrodite@jdoyleDoyle1 This subjective โinternal senseโ fiction decouples femaleness from the definition of woman. We cannot โopt outโ of our femaleness. But you already know this. I reject your premise.
@CareyBrian@rady_aphrodite@jdoyleDoyle1 Please explain what is socially constructed about the physiological functions of menstruation, pregnancy, childbirth, miscarriage, menopause, female specific conditions like PCOS, uterine or cervical cancer.
@CareyBrian@rady_aphrodite@jdoyleDoyle1 Hereโs a parallel: how will my doctor know if I have a particular diagnosis if there are not specific criteria belonging to that diagnosis? I can say, โI want to be seen as a person with cancer,โ but that has no bearing on whether or not I have cancer. Except in your view?
@CareyBrian@rady_aphrodite@jdoyleDoyle1 You can define it how ever you choose. However, we are being told that we must believe TWAW, and that society needs to be reorganized around this belief, and this linguistic dodge is all that is ever offered as rationale.
@CareyBrian@rady_aphrodite@jdoyleDoyle1 The question was: what traits or characteristics trans women and women have in common *that make us both women.* How one wants to be seen is not a trait that makes one anything. So I ask again, what are the traits that make womenโฆwomen.
@CareyBrian@rady_aphrodite@jdoyleDoyle1 Are you suggesting that is the only thing that makes one a woman? Thatโs the only defining characteristic? If not the only characteristic, please name some others.
For everyone who would like to roll back the clock to a time before it was ok to be gay & out, I hope you realize you are volunteering yourself, or someone u love, to be in a marriage with a closeted spouse. Are u willing to sacrifice yourself on the altar of your own prejudice?
