Medical interns who are currently serving at Windhoek Central Hospital and Intermediate Hospital Katutura held a peaceful demonstration on 19 November at zoo park in the CBD.
The demonstration proceeded to the Office of the Prime Minister to submit a petition on pressing issues faced by the medical interns.
The petition, which was submitted by medical interns Linford B Rhodes and Sam Endjala, on behalf of the group, was received by Romanus Kavinda Kawana, the deputy executive director at OPM.
The purpose and focus of the demonstration was on recognition of medical intern doctors as employees, reinstatement of overtime compensation and medical aid benefits and Resolution of significant discrepancies in allowances for third-year medical intern doctors.
