After a late night out, I left #Veep, my then MD and boss at a certain location. The next morning, I got to the office at 5:15 AM to finish some extra work, convinced I’d be the first one in.
But there he was - already in his suit, coffee on his table and in tune with work.

I was stunned. How?

No matter how early I tried to arrive after that, as long as he was in the country, I’d always find his car already parked.

He used to joke that I must be “running away from home” to be in the office so early. The truth was, I was just trying to beat him there - and I never could.

I never told him this, but that day he taught me the quiet power of leadership - that leaders set the pace for their organizations.

I’m still learning from his example to this day.
