The impact of Covid-19 on GBV and TIP is going to be the real challenge. Break in education, early marriage, loss of employment are realities that will have huge repercussions on GBV and TIP #InternationalWomensDay#access2services4survivors
Lockdown due to Covid19 made the survivors of #GBV and TIP confined to their homes, without any external support it was difficult to avail any services.
Domestic violence and forced child marriage incidents have increased exponentially during the lockdown period, with connection being made around the increased poverty, frustration and confined to their homes with no outside support #access2services4survivors
Commitment to a #genderequal workspace needs much more than an announcement. How do you plan to build empathy amongst team leads – men and women? Trust me, as a menstrual advocate the most educated people do not empathise with #periodpain or with women :) (4/5)
Policies need to be supported with a conscious effort to build a sensitive environment. In the absence of an empathetic environment, women will only be judged further for taking a day off. I will be watching this space closely for the upcoming announcements from @Zomato. (4/5)
Lest we forget, #Menstruation is the most stigmatised natural bodily function. Women are taught from menarche to not discuss #periods with anyone. It is years of socialisation that women carry with them when they enter a workspace #Periodleave (1/5)
The problem is the belief #periodleave will help women navigate workspaces better. If a woman feels ashamed/disempowered to tell her 'boss' about her period pain, the problem does not go away with a leave. She will still not be able to announce her optional period leave!
Did you check out India's first-ever Menstruation themed pins? Isn't it cool?
We absolutely love this!
