THREAD š§µ: The Somali governmentās cooperation with the NSS in operations in Djibouti aimed at thwarting Ethiopian Soviet & Cuban strategic influence.
In light of IOGās re-election, the Somali-Djiboutian relations exposes a bitter irony. Somalia historically campaigned for Djiboutiās independence & shielded it from Ethiopian subversion.
While Djibouti repaid this by exploiting Somaliaās collapse to entrench a pervasive and divisive 4.5 system.
A testament to Somaliaās diminished regional influence.
A concise historical note: declassified sources indicate that Ethiopian Colonel Moge played a central role in the formation of the SNM and the Somaliland project. In 1985, following his directive, more than fourteen prominent Isaaq figures were transported to Addis Ababa, where they were instructed to initiate a separatist entity known as āSomalilandā and undermine the Somali state. What responsible authority would ever tolerate such a trajectory?
In light of the growing rift between Saudi Arabia & the UAE, itās worth revisiting Somalilandās original strategic outlook.
According to Africa Intelligence, Somalilandās second president explicitly sought to use Israel to undermine Saudi-Yemeni influence.
Somalilandās second president framed Saudi & Yemen as āhostile Islamist forcesā in the Red Sea and even invoked āHebrew cultureā in Somalilandās past to justify cooperation with Israel.
Somali entrepreneurs have stepped onto the global stage. I had the honor of visiting āSimple Life Processing and Services Ltdā, a powerhouse brand that is raising the bar for premium frozen & chilled #fish products around the world. With EU, HACCP, FDA, and BSP SPS 5.1 approvals
Theyāve met and exceeded some of the toughest global export requirements. This means their fish products are now reaching #European and #American markets with world-class credibility and confidence. Congratulations to the entire Simple Life Processing and Services Ltd team. #Somalia
šØFACT CHECK: Siad Barre AUN rejected the SNM terroristsā demands, so they left the plane and were also chewing khat on it.
Thatās what really happened.
Nov, 1984. Three armed SNM fighters, led by Awil Adami Burhani, seized a Somali airlines aircraft shortly after takeoff from Mogadishu, thus forcing Barre to stop the planned execution of Isaaq students.
Today's incident with the E-isbaaro reminds me of SNM's fighting spirit.
The Spy Somali Foreign Minister who got caught selling govt documents to Ethiopia in the 60s šŖš¹
Ahmed Yusuf Dualeh served as Somaliaās Foreign Minister from 1964 to 1967. In August 1967 he was arrested and charged with treason for passing classified government documents and sensitive state information to Ethiopia.
The National Assembly voted overwhelmingly 77 to 1 to authorise his prosecution. In January 1968, he was sentenced to 24 yearsā imprisonment on counts of spying and treason.
Dualeh was also the brother of Boobe Yusuf Dualeh, who would later become an influential figure in the SNM.
An American observer writing at the time was astonished at the leniency of the Somali government towards treason, noting his surprise that Dualeh āwas not executedā and that penalties for treason appeared āunusually lightā given the seriousness of the charges.
The following is written:
āNot even treason is punished by death. During 1968, for example, the former Foreign Minister of Somalia, Ahmed Yusuf Dualeh, was given only a prison sentence for passing state secrets to a foreign power.ā
SHAMEFUL

On November 4th, we have a choice between a Mayor who has had 7 years and failed to deliver, or new leadership that actually answers to the people. And the consequences are great.
Do we want more of the same? Or the opportunity to build an affordable city, accountable to us?
