JMO, Only about 20% of adults actually have a day job. The rest are either retired, students, on disability or unemployed and not looking for work.

@ewarren It’s not a tax. It’s withholding a portion of earnings for retirement. A govt pyramid scheme that uses that money to pay those of age to receive it. The payout is determined on how much you put into it.

I would think an adult child making 75k would be paying parents for living expenses. Not many could save that much in 2-3 years. Plus, by age 21, most want to live somewhere else.
