Happy Anniversary, Tales of Symphonia Release date: August 29, 2003 Platforms: NGC The game takes place between two parallel worlds, superimposed one on top of the other, in the same space at the same time. Each of these worlds, called Sylvarant and Tethe'alla , has a chosen one who must save it, endangering the other world in the process. The game begins in Sylvarant , which is dying due to the constant loss of mana, the energy source necessary for magic and the sustenance of life itself. As crops begin to wither and living conditions become harsh, the people place their hopes in the Chosen One, a messiah and servant of the goddess Martel, who can reverse the world's ills by completing the journey of the World of Regeneration. The Chosen One is a young girl named Colette Brunel , protected by her childhood friends Lloyd Irving and Genis Sage , her teacher Raine Sage ( Genis Sage 's older sister), and Kratos Aurion , a mercenary with a mysterious past. Later in the game, four more people join the group: Presea Combatir , a strong and strange girl; Zelos Wilder , an arrogant playboy who is the Chosen One for Tethe'alla ; Sheena Fujibayashi , a female ninja , and Regal Bryant , an ex-convict. In order to regenerate the world, the Chosen One must travel from continent to continent, awakening the Supreme Spirits that slumber in ancient sanctuaries known as seals. With each seal released, the Chosen One draws closer to becoming an angel. When the Chosen One fully transforms into an angel, the world will be regenerated. Tales of Symphonia (テイルズオブシンフォニア, Teiruzu obu Shinfonia ) is an RPG developed by Namco , part of the Tales series , which is very popular in Japan . Tales of Symphonia was released for the GameCube in Japan, North America , and Europe . The game was re-released for the PlayStation 2 console only in Japan, followed by an HD remaster for the PlayStation 3 , which was later released on PC ( Steam ). In 2023, a remake of the game was released for PlayStation 4 , Xbox One , and Nintendo Switch . The story is based on Norse mythology , and completing the game can take over 100 hours due to its elaborate plot and numerous side quests.
