@asuka_aryan 1. 3rd world sleeper cells in our nations. 2. Drone warfare. 3. Infinity 3rd world reinforcements. Outside of traitors in our midst, those are their main tools against us. 1, 2 can be beaten somewhat defensively. 3. Will perhaps require a genophage like offense and 100 years.
@DrSonidoEc On a technical level the Van Persie one is the best. On a spiritual level the Puyol one is the GOAT. Just look into the background of that guy.
In 2010, Nobel laureate Daniel Kahneman published that happiness plateaus at $75,000 a year. Then a rival scientist collected 1.7 million real-time happiness reports from 33,391 people and proved him wrong. Kahneman's response was the rarest move in science: he teamed up with the guy to figure out why.
Their 2023 adversarial collaboration found both were right, about different people. For most of us, happiness keeps climbing with income well past $75K. No plateau anywhere.
But for the unhappiest 15 to 20%, the plateau is real. Money improves their days up to about $100,000, then stops cold. Whatever sits underneath, grief, loneliness, heartbreak, lives on a layer income can't reach.
Which is the exact finding this lizard is illustrating. The salary goes to work on everything around the sadness: the coffee, the donut, the rent. The sadness itself is out of network.
The treats still matter, though. A 2014 Journal of Consumer Psychology study found small "retail therapy" purchases measurably restore a sense of personal control and reduce residual sadness, with no spike in buyer's remorse afterward. The donut is doing real psychological work.
Both lizards are crying. Only one of them can afford the donut.
