Memory in the Living Room|Zikaron BaSalon at the Deputy Consul General‘s Residence @KahnSchmuel
昨夜,以色列驻上海副总领事康善淼(Samuel Kahn)与夫人在其官邸主持了一场Zikaron BaSalon(“客厅中的纪念”)活动。
🕯️We Remember
Today at the Consulate General of Israel in Shanghai, we lit candles for the six million Jewish lives lost in the Holocaust.
Theme: “Bridging Memory Across Generations – From Families Lost to Lives Remembered.”
We will not forget. We will never let history repeat
The Iranian regime has fired missiles at Jerusalem, landing dangerously close to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the Western Wall.

Yaron and Sarah were our friends and colleagues. They were in the prime of their lives.
This evening, a terrorist shot and killed them as they exited an event at the Capital Jewish Museum in DC.
The entire embassy staff is heartbroken and devastated by their murder. No words can express the depth of our grief and horror at this devastating loss.
Our hearts are with their families, and the embassy will be by their side during this terrible time.
Tomorrow is the Eurovision’s Semi-final 2, and we can’t wait to see Yuval Raphael perform! Her bravery and resilience have already won our hearts.
We hope that the huge support Israel’s entry received from Irish voters last year will be repeated this year and we wish everyone a great Eurovision! 🙏🏻
If you claim to care about the Middle East, read this report.
This important report, based on military assessments, legal frameworks and firsthand accounts, shares what the UN and also Ireland have been comfortably ignoring since October 7, which is how Hamas abuses its own population and uses them as human shields, how it has embedded its military operations within civilian infrastructure, weaponising Gaza’s population and urban landscape to achieve both tactical and strategic objectives.
Where are all the peace activists in Ireland when it comes to the abuse of Palestinians by Hamas and its deliberate efforts to perpetuate the war?
(Link in the first comment)
No, @Independent_ie . This is not a hostage swap.
This is a painful deal to release innocent Israeli men, women & children, both alive & dead, who were kidnapped during the premeditated Hamas massacre of October 7.
The Palestinians being released from prison in Israel were involved in terrorism & other crimes.
To characterise them in other terms is deliberately misleading.
There is no equivalence between a state making sacrifices to secure the release of its kidnapped people and a terrorist organisation that seeks to ensure its own survival.
Oded Lifshitz believed in & promoted coexistence, unlike Hamas & their supporters, who oppose any coexistence & seek the destruction of Israel & the Jewish people.
They are responsible for his death.
There is no justification for kidnapping this elderly man from his home.
We call on Irish people who claim to be peace activists to condemn his murder & demand the release of all the kidnapped.
For decades we have experienced the cruelty of Hamas.
503 days ago & every day since, we have been reminded of their brutality & genocidal ways.
What doesn’t cease to painfully surprise me, are people in Ireland marching with Hamas flags, referring to them as “freedom fighters” or attempting to make moral equivalences.
There is no justification for kidnapping babies.
There is no justification for using civilians as human shields.
Instead of looking in their eyes & marching to call for their release, people in Ireland tore down posters of the kidnapped.
How is that fighting for human rights?
A brief clarification, in light of different reports:
I received an invitation only to attend the HMD event from HET last December. When we asked about speaking at the event, as I did last year, and as previous Israeli ambassadors have done in the past, we were told by Lynn Jackson, the main organiser, that the invitation was to attend but not to speak.
It is a shame that the organisers of the main holocaust remembrance event in Ireland are limiting the participation of an official representative of Israel, while at the same time ignoring concerns by the Jewish community & international organisations.
Ireland’s escalatory position with regard to Israel is once again being welcomed by Hamas terrorist organisation.
This is not “being on the right side of history”.
Are Irish school children being taught to hate?
I am repeatedly asked why Ireland is so hostile towards Israel & why is there a selective empathy on the subject of the Israel-Palestinian issue.
Although Israel has many supporters in Ireland, they are largely eclipsed by anti Israel groups, a strong bias against Israel in mainstream Irish media and in political discourse, where only a few voices are brave enough to offer a dissenting voice to a biased narrative.
I tried finding explanations for this in the context of Irish history, yet if you explore it, the history of the Jewish people shares many similarities with Irish history & suffering. For example, the Irish & the Jews were forced to leave our homelands, we overcame national traumas, & we each have vibrant diaspora communities. We revived our nations after British rule, & we revived our ancient languages too. We both made painful compromises in order to promote peace.
Sadly, it seems that those people who speak against Israel, do not want to see these similarities, nor acknowledge the Palestinian rejection of the UN partition which would have established two states, living in peace & security.
After reading the shocking report that has just been published by @IMPACT_SE regarding the biases & antisemitism found in Irish school books I am compelled to ask whether this is part of the reason for the automatic biases against Israel.
Are Irish children being indoctrinated to look at Jewish people differently? Are they being taught to delegitimize the State of Israel, the only Jewish homeland?
For the future of the Jewish & Israeli communities in Ireland and for the sake of education & tolerance, I hope that the troubling findings in this report are addressed seriously and urgently.

While the October 7th atrocities are permanently seared into our collective memory, today is the national day of remembrance, according to the Jewish calendar.
We lowered our flag to half mast to honor the victims murdered by Palestinian Hamas terrorists, while we pray for the release of all the remaining hostages.
We were happy to host in Dublin a group of Israeli doctors who attended the WONCA Europe conference.
This is an example of the life-saving work that can be promoted through collaboration and exchanges of knowledge.
@IsraelinIreland
Reflecting on a year of pain, we gathered to remember those murdered, raped, mutilated, and kidnapped in the October 7th attacks.
101 empty chairs symbolized the hostages still held captive. Together, we remember and demand their safe return.
Yesterday marked one year since the deliberate, sadistic massacres & rocket attacks perpetrated by thousands of Palestinian Hamas terrorists against Israeli communities in Southern Israel on Oct 7.
Last night at a memorial service, we joined together with diplomats, officials, members of the Israeli, Jewish, Christian & other faiths to commemorate those who were murdered, tortured & maimed during the pogrom that triggered this terrible war, and pray for the return of the 101 hostages still in Hamas’s captivity.
