Again I’ve said there should be suitable attractive alternatives for them. Why should someone live in a 3 or 4 bed house when they only need 1?

2. I stay at home due the fact they have not downsized because of younger siblings and needing a home of that size

We also need to have downsizing as an attractive option for those who no longer need larger family homes. It’s a combined solution.

They don’t disappear when you move, if downsizing means a struggling family gets to have the space they need and also make memories in a comfortable home surely we encourage that?

However having 3 or 4 bed affordable homes occupied by 1 person whilst families struggle to find homes and often take on unaffordable debt just to put a roof over their heads is also an issue.

I’m a uni student, working part time, living at home with my parents while I save to buy my own place and rarely have time to go out and “socialise”. Doesn’t change the economics of under occupied family homes during a housing shortage.

@ReliablyGenX @DrBrooski @BROKENBRITAIN0 It’s not envy at all. It makes economic sense for people who no longer need large family homes to downsize into housing that better suits their needs. There’s a shortage of family homes while some lie under occupied, it’s reasonable to want better use of the existing homes.
