Chin up, team. Take some time. Take care of yourself. Take care of your loved ones. Take care of your community.
There are a million ways to make a difference—get back in the fight when you’re ready.
And know that, whenever you are ready, I’ll be ready to get back in with you.
Setbacks are unavoidable, but giving up is unforgivable. As my dad would say, we all get knocked down—but the measure of our character is how quickly we get up.
A defeat does not mean we are defeated. The America of your dreams is calling for you to get back up.
On my lapel I wear a pin depicting a canary in a birdcage, given to me decades ago by a steelworker at a Workers’ Memorial Day rally in Lorain.
At the turn of the last century, coal miners took the canary down into the mines with them to warn them of poisonous gasses, because in those days, they didn’t have a union strong enough or a government that cared enough to look out for them.
When I first came to the Senate, I wore the official Senate pin for a couple of days, but it didn’t feel right. So I took it off and I put my canary pin back on. I’ve worn it every day since, and I’m not taking it off.
I will always believe that when you love this country, you fight for the people who make it work. I will never give up that fight.
I have dedicated my life to making sure Pennsylvanians’ voices are heard, whether on the floor of the Senate or in a free and fair election. It has been made clear there are more than 100,000 votes still to be counted. Pennsylvania is where our democratic process was born. We must allow that process to play out and ensure that every vote that is eligible to be counted will be counted. That is what Pennsylvania deserves.
The party that doesn’t like the outcome, they claim it’s voter fraud.
The same party doesn’t want to count every vote, and claim a “victory” in our Senate race.
That party can chill the F out because we are gonna count every last one in PA.
All I have to say is the Republican Party is not ready for the sequel to our villain origin story.
Because those of us who were just beginning our careers in 2016 are about to be the ones in charge. And we’re just getting started.
Something I’ve learned today: Pennsylvania women have been thirst trapping men on dating apps to get them to vote for Kamala Harris.
They have to send photos of their filled out ballots, or they don’t get a date.
Our nation’s founders would’ve been proud.
Tonight, @GabbyGiffords and I told the nation why we're voting for @KamalaHarris for President.
For abortion rights.
For a stronger economy.
For our grandaughter's future.
