Grade 1/2 visited the Seymour Art Gallery today and learned about Mosaic art. First, we viewed art & the got to create our own! Lots of creativity expressed and fun had!

Feeling very excited to have been accepted into the @SFU_GradStudies Inclusive Education Graduate Diploma! Not only do I get to teach my students about being life long learners, but I get to model this for them too!

After a great pro-d on play based learning, we brought math and play together with math ladders. Students raced to finish as many as they could & practiced their subtraction skills, all while having fun + learning with and from each other! @NVSD44

Instead of sharing chocolate, we worked together to create a friendship fruit salad. We are all different but when we come together we make something great - and in this case delicious! Happy ❤️ Day! @NVSD44 @cove_cliff

Today students used fiction and non fiction texts to complete their first graffiti activity. Lots of great connections were made and they displayed some impressive collaboration skills! @NVSD44

Different coloured equations allowed students practice addition at their level & lots of number sense strategies were practiced including counting on, doubles, and using number lines @NVSD44

Gr. 1/2 are learning about different celebrations & cultural traditions. Today they compared what they have learnt about Hanukkah with what they already knew about Christmas @NVSD44

Students are developing multiple number sense strategies in math today - subitizing, counting, and part part whole addition. So happy to have a class that loves math as much as I do! ➕➖

Grade 1/2 students combined movement with science, and used their thinking skills to determine if each example was a physical or chemical change - lots of 💡moments & fun! @NVSD44

Gr.1/2 students explored a cultural tradition for Diwali & used their collaboration skills to create our own Rangoli masterpiece @NVSD44
