PGY2 Yellowknife Family Medicine via @UAFamilyMed. XC skier, adventure seeker, wannabe wine collector. Passionate about northern & rural medicine, and coffee.
@SRPCanada thank you for this statement. Important that we have an open, transparent dialogue about the intended and unintended impacts of major policy decisions in HHR. @thenosm agrees
.@KajsaBrita, my hero. Successful passport handoff in Vancouver about 18 hours after realizing it got accidentally delivered to YK. Yellowknife for the win!
(Note-this is an under-sold aspect of #ruralmedicine. Community is priceless and that’s all there is to it)
❤️ @SRPCanada
A real bright spot in a strained #Emergency summer: sharing an #ER with home-grown Métis doc @tdhont in his first shift as an attending after having worked with him in his 1st shift as a 4th yr Med student.
I’d say I didn’t coo & get a bit teary but… #Proud#LifeInMedicine 😊☀️
Patients are frustrated because they can't get in to see a family doctor, so they wait in the ER.
ER teams are frustrated because they're dealing with primary care issues instead of what they're trained for.
We're all frustrated for the same reason.
Pay family docs fairly.
@SarahGiles10 @FamPhysCan Graduating FM resident - I have these exact concerns. More students will choose specialties if only 1-2 years more training, especially +1’s. What will I learn in 3rd year FM residency that I can’t in 1st year of practice?! Still not clear what the problem is that needs fixing…
Just home from a very busy pediatric ER shift. Wait times were already high first thing in the morning.
Remember:
- fever isn’t dangerous, even it’s it’s 39-40°
- it’s normal for kids to eat little when sick, hydration is most important
- most things don’t need antibiotics

Hey @students_srpc, come and learn all about the amazing U of A family medicine rural residency program and sites, and chat with our residents at the Rural Residency Tour session this afternoon. @SRPCCanada #SRPC2022@UAlberta_FoMD@UAFamilyMed
It’s not everyday that the patient’s partner can do their third trimester scan ❤️
So thankful for this little peanut despite the back pain and fatigue, and for @tdhont ‘s ultrasound skills
