It's okay to be sad that GrifballHub is coming to an end. But I know the joy the site brought to thousands and thousands of players makes this whole 10-year endeavor worthwhile.

If changes in our lives never intervened, Goose and I would still be working hard on the Hub. Few projects we've undertaken have been more rewarding. But life happens and nothing gold can stay.

I'm not involved enough in Halo to make any judgements on the future of Grifball or the future of the franchise. But with dedicated folks at the helm and a great community behind them, the future could continue to be bright.

There are great people like Sonic and Rage who want to do great things for Grifball, and we owe it to them to give them a clean slate to work from. Their new site won't be mine and Goose's. It won't be GrifballHub 2.0. It'll be all theirs.

For anybody who wants to take Grifball and the leagues in a new direction or undertake drastic new projects, the name GrifballHub would be more of a hinderance. It would tie people to the decisions and obligations of the past.

Goose and I would always feel a sense of responsibility for what happens on the Hub, and anyone who takes it over would always have the question of "What would Goose & Kal do?" hanging over their heads.

We could sell the site or give it to new people, but we recognize GrifballHub was a unique place.

For the past 18 months, we've been owners-in-name-only, with our wonderful Community Leaders running things. But that was unsustainable. Goose and I were unavailable to make the big decisions, and no one felt free to undertake the big projects needed to push Grifball forward.

Running GrifballHub before summer 2016 was a near-full time job by itself. And it was the kind of project where the more you put into it, the more returns you saw. There was no shortage of ideas for improvements and cool new thing to try.

First, it's no secret that Goose and I do not have the time needed to run the site like we used to. Lil' Kalchecka is a joyous handful, of course, but our own careers have also taken off. (Goose's job is related to video games, mine is completely not)
