Investigating responses of Kalahari organisms, across trophic levels, to environmental change. Supported by @TswaluFdn and proudly driven by @Suzuki_ZA
Congrats to Anthony and team on the publication of the final chapter from his PhD, describing the costs and benefits of the relationship between sociable weavers and pygmy falcons. Follow the thread to learn about his fascinating findings.
Jimny Gathering time with @Suzuki_ZA! Ours have made the journey all the way from the Kalahari to Clarens. Amazing to see hundreds of Jimny’s in and around the town.
Congratulations to @WendZ_222 on the publication of more of her PhD work, investigating how pangolins respond to changing food availability. Many long hours of data gathering in the Kalahari, supported by @Suzuki_ZA and @Tswalu. https://t.co/Y4OIcYinmi
PhD student @makabudi attended the International Mammalogical Congress in Alaska this week, with support through a student travel award from @IMammalogy. She presented her work on dietary overlap between the aardvark and ground pangolin. @Suzuki_ZA@Tswalu
Find out why Wits master’s student Daniel Rossouw is so excited about his pangolin research on Tswalu, a new project that falls under the Kalahari Endangered Ecosystem Project: https://t.co/fBCgVapcAM

Continuing our long-term transects in the Kalahari to investigate how vegetation and invertebrates change over time. Crucial information for understanding impacts on food webs. With support from @Suzuki_ZA and @Tswalu
Kim Scholtz, a PhD student at the University of the Western Cape, recently visited Tswalu to investigate whether Cape cobras were still active around sociable weaver nests. With no breeding birds at this time of year, there were no cobras to be found.
Published the first chapter of my Ph.D. thesis. You can download it via https://t.co/mckZpD6JWk
We @AnthonyLowney @diabolopo & @robertL_thomson highlight the breeding biology of Africa’s smallest diurnal #raptor – the Pygmy Falcon. #ornithology#breedingbirds@Fitztitute@Tswalu
We’re delighted to have Daniel Rossouw joining the team. Daniel will conduct MSc research to further explore the ecological role of pangolins and their importance in a dryland ecosystem. He is off to a good start, with the brilliant @Suzuki_ZA Jimny to help him out!
In a wonderful blog, @halbrindley describes his journey to the Kalahari to see an aardvark at @Tswalu and get involved in our research, with the help of some fine @Suzuki_ZA vehicles!
Our team carrying out insect and vegetation transects at @Tswalu, extending our measurements into the 9th year (measurements every two months). With the help of our trusty @Suzuki_ZA Jimny.
Fascinating foraging association observed between Cape foxes and striped polecats. Well done to @KalahariProject member @WendZ_222, @Arctic_paws and Alexander Sliwa on publishing these observations.
🚨Hot off the press: Our exciting new report of a small canid and small mustelid pairing up to hunt ground-dwelling prey in the Kalahari!😲
Great observation and follow-up Wendy Panaino (@WendZ_222) and Alexander Sliwa!

Thank you @Suzuki_ZA for supporting our research with another Jimny! We’re now so well equipped to access remote sites for our fieldwork. #BornForThis#SuzukiSA
