@x_Saluin Similar reasons; it sounded like you were discrediting the problems people had with said admins by making it seem like all the complaining was just death threats and bullying from his followers.
Death threats to crappy mods is obviously too far. They suck, but they're still ppl.
@x_Saluin It's cool how I didn't say that.
The admins are justifiably disliked because of their actions. People dislike them. Some people are assholes, and those people don't discredit the ones who aren't.
It's also no different from tacitly labeling someone a pedophile/groomer.
@x_Saluin@Joetastic_ People, including current and former mods there, have had issues with the removed admins for longer than this entire shitshow has been going on. There's a reason plenty of people came out of the woodwork to complain about them; they didn't just manifest out of nowhere.
An update regarding everything:
I've now verified that I have been unbanned from both the Signalis Discord server and subreddit. While I appreciate that the decision has been reversed, I don't think I'll be returning for a bit. I think I still need some time away after everything that's happened.
I've also confirmed that the mods responsible for the discussions surrounding my ban in the separate private server away from the other mods are no longer part of the moderation team. Tho I cant confirm whether that was everyone involved, as I dont know the full staff list, but I appreciate that action was taken.
As some of you might have noticed, I'm no longer in the Signalis Discord Server.
Unfortunately, a few days ago I was permanently banned (and because of that I was banned from the Signalis Subreddit too)
The stated reason was due to "Illegal actions or breaking Discord ToS." which is a very serious allegation. However during my appeal, the moderator handling my case explicitly told me the mod team was *not* accusing me of grooming or doing anything illegal.
They explained they had banned me due to concerns of me accepting an NSFW commission from someone who had recently turned 18.
Before accepting this NSFW commission, I had explicitly asked if they were over 18, and they told me "Yes". This commission itself was requested only after they had already turned 18, but I had no idea that their birthday had been so recent.
At *no* point did I have any inappropriate relationships with this person nor did I send anything NSFW or explicit before they were 18. Every message I sent was strictly professional just like every client I've worked with.
I would never intentionally break any server rules and especially discord TOS. Had I known this person just recently turned 18 and that accepting a NSFW commission from them would result in a ban, I would have declined this commission immediately.
What hurts the most isn't just losing access to the server but its been finding out that the wording of the ban reason has left people with the wrong impression about me n what actually happened.
In the nearly 4 years I've spent on the Signalis discord server, I've shared many WIP screenshots and videos, shared models and other resources for my fellow animators, collabed with others and made many friends along the way. The Signalis discord server has been a huge part of my creative journey, and it really saddens me that this is how my time there has to come to an end.
It's now been almost a week since I got banned. Despite following up, I still haven't received any further updates or word on my appeal.
I don't wish any ill will toward the moderators or the server staff, and I respect whatever decision they ultimately end up making regarding my ban.
I also don't want this post to become a reason for anyone to harass them. My only goal is to explain why Ive suddenly disappeared and to clear up any misunderstandings surrounding my ban.
If the mod team would still like to continue this conversation, my DMs are always open. I'm more than willing to answer any questions or clarify any concerns.
And to everyone who has supported my work over the years on the server, whether you've seen my WIP posts, downloaded my models, commissioned me, collabed with me, or even simply just been a friend there, I just wanna say Thank you. Your support means a lot to me, and I'm truly heartbroken that things had to end this way.
After hearing claims that a small subset of the Signalis Discord moderation team had been discussing decisions and bans in a private group separate from the rest of the staff, I honestly didn't want to believe it.
However, ever since I made the twitter post, several current and former moderators have privately reached out to me. Some said they believed my ban was unfair but felt too afraid to oppose it. Others shared screenshots of discussions that took place in this separate moderator group before my ban.
Before posting them, I asked other moderators to verify that the screenshots were authentic, and they confirmed they were.
Reading them was honestly heartbreaking.
For almost 4 years I've been on the server, I've always been respectful to the moderation team and believed they would always approach situations fairly and without bias. I never imagined I'd one day be reading conversations where they had already formed opinions about me and were discussing banning me before I was even given a chance to defend myself.
Whether people agree with my actions or not is up to them. But I never expected to find out that convos like this were happening behind my back. That realization has left me feeling incredibly hurt and betrayed.
At this point, even if my ban were reversed, I don't think I could ever bring myself to return. The trust I had in the moderation team is gone, and I don't think I'd ever feel welcome or comfortable there again.
I was just contacted by an ex-moderator of the Signalis Discord who wanted to share their own experience with the moderation team.
They told me they believed a small group of mods held most of the influence over ban decisions, and that this made it difficult for other mods on the team to challenge those decisions. They alleged that this small clique within the moderation team would sometimes decide they disliked someone before looking for reasons to ban them.
That said, I couldn't help but notice something that has been bothering me throughout this process. I spoke with several other mods and staff members who seemed surprised that I had even been banned or didn't know the reason behind it, despite being told my ban was a "collective moderator decision." Hearing this what this ex-mod had to say made those conversations feel harder to ignore now.
@Joetastic_ They're the reason a lot of people (myself incuded) left that server and never looked back.
I'm sorry it happened to you, but I'm glad people have been coming out for you to shine a light on the behavior of them. They've stuck around and gotten away with this for too long.
@Joetastic_ 90% sure a lot of the admins/moderators were in power in UnOff years ago. It was before my time in the community, but I've heard a lot about it, none of it positive.
