@art_is_found This also happened to me! And when I looked closer at the date on the ticket, I realized it was issued after I had returned the rental car! 🤔 scam?
My friend John Mark Rozendaal is facing 7 years in prison for defying @Citibank and their funding of fossil fuels.
Please share this egregious criminalization of protest and fight climate change!!!!

Let’s be honest- @SierraClub has had a really complex troubled problematic history- starting from the eco-colonialism of John Muir, the organization has made immoral associations with racists, and conservatives- it has been overly hierarchical and unwieldy- with mid and higher level employees benefitting enormously from the hardworking (often unpaid) volunteers and local chapter folks. The organization has long needed to change.
As the former leader of the @naacp, the fact that Ben is now head of Sierra Club is a monumentally significant development in the history of intersectional environmentalism.
It’s clear that @benjealous, a brilliant leader who believes in the importance or grassroots organizing at his core has a huge and tough job bringing that organization into the 21st century. Its field operations have always been crucial to its work. It’s membership on the ground and its local chapter leadership who have always been amazing. Ben is trying to rebuild the field, and mobilize the organization in a real way.
In the past, the national organization has been actually funded by the fossil fuel industry and their boosters to the tune of millions and millions of dollars. Sierra Club used to take money from the fossil fuel industry. Sierra Club used to turn a blind eye to the harms of #fracking. Sierra Club has sold out the movement a hundred times in the past 15 years. @benjealous is trying to change all of that.
I have loved working with local Sierra Club chapters and want to continue that. I have toured my films to hundreds of towns and cities in partnership with local Sierra club- without the support ever of the national organization.
It is so sad to see @PWUnion1 playing to the worst aspects of the SC legacy, by sending out and encouraging racist memes and smear campaigns against @BenJealous and other BIPOC leaders. Whatever the negotiations are in the midst of this, using racist attacks on this platform is simply unacceptable. I for one appreciate and support his historic appointment to run the org. He must succeed. I believe that it is a huge moment for intersectional environmentalism and enviros everywhere need to get behind him and be proud of this change.

I’m sure theres some alternate dimension down some wormhole on the other side of the galaxy, where you can get a disease from accidentally drinking a piece of RFK’s brain from inside of a bottle of tequila.
And in that dimension, I am vaccinated from that disease.
The Welcome Table was largest climate action in New Orleans history and it was so so so joyful. .
If you have more than you need, don’t build a higher wall, build a longer table.
Time to #welcome#climate refugees (and all refugees) not wall the out. Fight xenophobia!
I AM NOT A LAWYER, AND THIS IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE
if you're going to a protest where you expect to get arrested it's extremely important to have arrest training. this thread will not be as useful as a proper training, but i can offer a few tips:
This took a lot of bravery and a lot of eloquence.
To speak of the cycle of violence to your own people.
To call out the despicable and brutal occupation and October 7th in the same breath.
This is what is needed. An end to the dehumanization cycle. An end to the violence.
The only person to mention the dehumanizing, horrifying war in Gaza at the #Oscars tonight is a Jew.
I am really proud of that.
Despite all that we have been through, we are still human.
We can still see and acknowledge the cycle of violence and speak out.
I urge everyone to listen to this interview and consider. No more name calling. No more genocidal calls. No more arguments to exterminate one side or the other. But real moral clarity and the only way forward.
Please put aside your hate and listen.
Both Hamas and Bibi must go.

Malcolm X was murdered on this day in 1965.
We must carry on his legacy.
