When you visit the 9/11 Museum in New York, beneath the ground where the Twin Towers once stood, you’ll find a section called “What Have We Learned?”

This section is not about the ideology that drove 19 men to hijack planes. It’s not about the religious worldview that justified slaughtering thousands of civilians.

No, that section is about New York City’s mistakes in dealing with the dust and its long-term health effects on first responders and residents.

Tucked away in a corner, almost hidden, you’ll find the museum’s weak defense of Islam, framing Al-Qaeda and Islamism as nothing more than a political faction that happened to emerge in the mid-20th century.

It’s designed not to offend, not to name the ideology that inspired the attacks.

America didn’t learn the real lesson of 9/11.

The lesson they should have put front and center is: if you ignore the ideology, if you pretend Islam is blameless, you guarantee that the same ideas will strike again.

But instead, the largest section is devoted to dust particles and respiratory illnesses.
