@trevor_hk The kid is not wrong, he seems to refer to the is-ought distinction and Charlie Kike dosen't even bother to engage in any metaethics. His response is simply "that is problematic".
@uberboyo The gut aversion to pessimism betrays people's instincts which probably fear pessimism as it is a higher development of so many of our life denying values (Christianity, platonism and their derivatives).
@CosmicSkeptic Freedom is something that humans struggle to live with. The problem of finding meaning in life is really a struggle to find a command (cause) or commander (god) to serve. This is even true of rulers which internalize their authority as really the will of the people, god, etc.
@SugartitsCrypto@ArinWaichulis@latestinspace@ClimateHuman Second just because measured light from the sun has decreased does not mean it will make up for the effects of climate change by cooling the earth, this is a hypothesis which requires time to support with evidence, actions of governments shouldn't be made by stuff this uncertain.
@SugartitsCrypto@ArinWaichulis@latestinspace@ClimateHuman Firstly I really do not care what the GBR is referenced to as by others unless you can provide evidence that it somehow indicates the global change in climate accuratley.
@SugartitsCrypto@ArinWaichulis@latestinspace@ClimateHuman Also, coral reef cover for the different parts of the great barrier reef are influenced by many more factors than just temperature so making this induction is risky. Also the effects are localized and not global thus says nothing about climate change on a global scale.
@SugartitsCrypto@ArinWaichulis@latestinspace@ClimateHuman I wanted a link cause I had no energy to go looking the exact figure, found similar findings anyways however a short term change that the data covers is less than 30 years therefore cannot describe a proper change in climate.
@TansuYegen I think they do this cause the ball that rolls on hills has a lower average height than the other ball depsite both starting at the same height and therefore the ball going up hills has more gravitational potential kenetic energy thus speed.
@fliphickey@ConnorMark419@TheRightCant This is like being escorted out of an airport for saying "I have a bomb" and then you complain about a violation of freedom of speech.
