We welcome the swift action by the @PoliceUg , as confirmed by their spokesperson ACP @mkituuma, in arresting three suspects linked to the murder of Sydney Gongodyo.

Sydney, a talented 27-year-old player for the Uganda Rugby Cranes and Stanbic Black Pirates, and a Makerere University student, was tragically killed in an incident of mob justice on June 5, 2026, in Upper Naguru, Nakawa Division. He was allegedly accused of snatching a handbag before being attacked by a mob.

The suspects; Ssebagala Noordin, Ayebazibwe Roden, and Namukose Juliet are currently detained at Kira Road Police Station. A case of murder by mob action has been registered, and investigations continue to identify and apprehend all those involved.

Mob justice has no place in a civilized society. It robs families of loved ones, denies justice, and undermines the rule of law. We commend @PoliceUg for their prompt response and urge the public to allow due process while supporting efforts to bring every perpetrator to account.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Sydney’s family, teammates, the entire rugby fraternity, and all who knew and loved him. You were a warrior on and off the field, may your legacy inspire positive change.

In today's Africa, a boy with hair (plainted or not) is automatically branded a thief, a rapists, an armed robber, or a fraud.

Let's stand to protect male too.

It is soon to become a curse to be born male in Africa. Society treats you with no regards to honor, it is the male that steals, that rapes , that commits rebellion, that is "mandated to provide", etc etc..., it is the male they neglect

It is the on the male that lines are drawn , it is on the male where society boundaries are crossed, etc etc....alas.
Is it bad to born male? is it that weak laws of the land that protect male?
