@charlieINTEL People hardly by games at Gamestop anyways, most stores are like 80% Cards or gaming merch while 20% are games and accessories so not really surprising.
@or_kend@epictacosam@StopKilingGames@KYRA_RISING PS5 games are generally the full game, on disc. Does that include updates etc? No, but you can pop in a disc even offline and that game will install and be playable.
@nivlacasura@GameSpot They already cant do this with movies, or games in the past because they lose rights to use IP's, music in the games, etc, they'd be hard pressed to for games and already have failed with digital longevity in the past, the rights to use music etc are usually finite due to costs.
@BackseatNukist@Lost_Pause_@Evanit0 Simply so they can get the full experience of the content that was cut from the game, GTA 6 now being one of the more egregious examples of this, but popularized by publishers like Ubisoft.
@BackseatNukist@Lost_Pause_@Evanit0 The market has heavily pushed for digital, Xbox is largely digital because their hardware base is practically nonexistant, 82% of the playstations sales were of the physical edition, yetthe introduction of 'digital deluxe' editions of games have pushed people to buy digital.
@StreetsofGage Nintendo being the last bastion of physical media(for now) wasn't really on my bingo card for the year but man does Xbox have the opportunity to do some funny shit if Sony doesn't walk this back from the sheer amount of backlash.

@rep_in_a_box@Done_With_Earth@Stephen_Georg Generally non f2p online games require a paid sub to be played and since MS cant let a game be played offline, it requires both a sony and ms account with paid for online. Not really unique to sony in this case either.
