Memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows: standing by the Cross of Jesus, she intimately and faithfully shared in the salvific Passion of her Son, and appeared as the New Eve, so that just as the disobedience of the first woman had brought death, she might bring life by her wondrous obedience.
Workers didn't win weekends, safer workplaces, better wages, or the 40-hour workweek because corporations decided to do the right thing. They won those rights by organizing and fighting together.
This Labor Day, we honor that history and keep fighting for working people.
No way, it’s Nane! Our one-year-old Critically Endangered Huon's tree kangaroo is still as adorable as ever and he’s growing up fast! At one year old, Nane is becoming more independent and can be seen confidently leaping, climbing and navigating his habitat.
He’s still closely bonded with his mom, but he’s also beginning to build relationships with his care team through positive reinforcement training. We can’t wait to see what this adorable little guy gets up to next! 💚
Our Lady of Fatima, intercede for us.
Our Lady of Fatima appeared to three shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal, in 1917, calling them to prayer, penance, and conversion. Her message continues to inspire Catholics around the world to pray the Rosary and draw closer to Jesus.
Happy Birthday weekend to my Wild and Crazy older brother Steve Martin. There would be no Blues Brothers without the patronage of this generous, brilliant, magnificently talented master musician, comedian, author, actor and eclecticist. He invited John and I to open for him during his shows in California from which we made the multi-platinum selling Briefcase Full of Blues. Young actors today ask me for advice. Read Steve’s Born Standing Up and Troubadour. He has my blood if he needs it.
