@deedydas MoRTH now has
dense DBM/BC specifications
mechanistic-empirical pavement design
RAP/recycling provisions
formal cold milling/recycling specifications
SMA guidance
alternative technology/value-engineering initiatives
stronger skill-development initiatives.
So a lot has been done
@deedydas This is a 13 year old article - I also read that some of the suggestions have already been incorporated by MoRTH as suggested in this post. The real question is when do we start seeing the real benefits of those implementations and how to bridge the remaining.
The old India is dying. The new is yet to be born.
We are the midwives.

This person had a signed job offer, put in their two weeks, worked out their notice, and then the company rescinded the offer 3 days before their start date.
Now they're unemployed with rent due. This should be illegal.
Here's what almost nobody in that thread knows. In many states, it basically is.
The doctrine is called promissory estoppel. A company that makes you a promise it knows will cause you to resign owes you when you resign and get burned. The offer letter alone means little in an at-will state. Your resignation is what creates the liability.
A woman in Nebraska quit an 11-year job for an offer that got revoked the day before her start date, because an owner's wife didn't want her hired. The state supreme court made the clinic pay.
In California, Joseph Toscano quit a piano retailer on a promise from Greene Music. They yanked the offer two weeks later. A court hit them for $536,833.
And the damages come from the job you gave up. Your old salary. Your tenure. Your benefits. The entire life you dismantled because they told you to.
The part that should make this person feel better. HR's email saying the position was "eliminated due to restructuring" is a signed admission the rescission had nothing to do with them. That's the first exhibit in a demand letter.
Most of these never reach a courtroom. One letter from an employment lawyer, and a company staring at its own words tends to find months of severance for someone who never worked there a single day.
Companies rescind casually because they think the downside is zero. It isn't.
Shivcharan Gupta, 74, a cloth merchant living in an old age home in Sonipat, died yesterday. He had three daughters; sadly and surprisingly, not one of them turned up for his funeral.
He and his late wife had raised and educated their three daughters, ensuring they were all self-reliant and well-settled, two as schoolteachers, residing across Nepal, UP, and Mumbai. After his wife passed away, Shivcharan lived alone at the old age home, keeping a mobile phone solely to stay in touch with his children.
The manager of the old age home told the media that they had informed his three daughters 20 days ago about his deteriorating health, yet none made the trip to visit him. As his illness worsened, the daughters stopped taking his calls altogether. When Shivcharan finally died, the management immediately contacted them again and offered to hold off on the final rites until they could arrive, but none of the sisters agreed to travel.
Instead of showing up to bid their father farewell, the eldest daughter transferred ₹5,100 online to cover the ritual expenses and requested that the funeral be streamed over a video call. Though they initially asked the staff to preserve his ashes, they quickly backtracked, stating they "did not have time" to pick them up and requested that the old age home handle the immersion in the Ganges as well.
This is so tragic. If a life spent raising children ends in total solitude, one cannot help but ask what the long journey was truly for.
Last week Swiggy released its financial results and my feed was filled with tweets appreciating the company's performance.
This is when Instamart improved its contribution margin from -5% to breakeven.
On the other hand, yesterday Ather Energy (whom I happily call the Tesla of India) released its financial results. Their EBITDA improved from -16% to 1%!
And yet I don't see any tweets about it!
This goes on to show Ather having superior engineering products but very poor PR!
No Vote Chori today. Free and fair elections in Bankipur. No SIR issue. ECI is good. No Gyanesh Kumar jokes. BJP and its strategists, I tell you. They go and lose all prestige battles/by polls and cant fix the EVMs for these?? Like they did not fix Ayodhya. Fed up.
A men kept like slave for 8 years in Punjab. He is not alone, there are 1000's of them, mostly from Bihar & UP. They even hit their head with stone to make them mentally handicapped & then use them as slaves forever.. These r the same ppl who support Khalistani & do farmer protests
Martyn Ziegler deserves immense praise for his work over the past few days. His thorough reporting on FIFA’s attempted sell off has helped move the conversation across football towards the right outcome just as his reporting on the Super League did.
There is one overlooked aspect.
When Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana came out on TV. It was the first time the masses saw their god on TV. A good vs evil tale written with simplistic sets & VFX. People had never seen such a thing before, so it immediately gained currency.
One other aspect was - the language. Till this time, the masses were accustomed to hearing Urdu in movies & TV.
A hero would say “Ehsaan kaisa maanji, ye to mera farz tha”.
Or “Barkhurdaar bade shaukeen maalum hote ho”
All the songs were shayaris. Any character speaking shuddh Hindi was treated as a caricature in Bollywood. Remember the interview of Amol Palekar in Golmaal.
Ramayan was the first time people heard stuff like “Bhraata shri, kadaapi nahi” It was novel. Hindi then became the language of mythology.
