Poetry calls to the human spirit. I’ve spent much too much time being distracted by the ugly and empty soullessness of modernity. Lately, I’ve once again allowed the wonder of words to penetrate the heart.
One of the greatest vocations and opportunities of our time is to fully commit to re-sacralizing, re-enchanting our lives and our world. This is a heroic vision, and our descendants will require our attention and fortitude in this matter right here and now.
Hail, January, that bearest here
On snowbright breasts the babe-faced year
That weeps and trembles to be born.
Hail, maid and mother, strong and bright,
Hooded and cloaked and shod with white,
Whose eyes are stars that match the morn.
Algernon Swinburne
I guess what keeps us connected is the fear that we will "miss out" by losing connection with people or ideas we value. More and more I'm thinking that's just an excuse that keeps us trapped by things that will never really help make the changes we want for ourselves.
John Culkin said: "We shape our tools. And thereafter they shape us."
I think we are just being used. But I really don't have the answers. I know you have a vision and it seems to me it's the right one. Maybe we need to just get off the fucking internet and start building real things.
@PaganRuralism I massively purged my follow list recently. And you know what? I don't miss anybody. It all seems so pointless really. If you disconnect, plant your feet in the ground and just get busy living you find you really don't need all this anyway.
@Tom_Rowsell I really enjoyed this article. I printed it out and have kept it on hand to re-read when the mood strikes me. Thanks for posting on the blog, I think I’ll just head over there and read it again!!!
While they obviously are free to walk their own path. The almost euphoric promotion and embracing of AI has been . . . strange. I say what I’ve always said. They are inviting the enemy inside the gates. They insist it liberates and empowers. I say it will enslave, and destroy everything they claim to stand for.
@LunethD I haven’t seen a lot of people talking about this. I almost commented on the Cinematic but thought better of it. I so agree. The character of the universe is altered and I dont like it one bit. It’s pretty, but it’s not Warcraft. I want Warcraft.
@h0neyndmilk I’ve never joined a community here on twitter. So not quite sure how they work. But this sounds fun. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens here.
My personal opinion is that rapid blood loss is the clear choice. Most articles or studies on humane killing always use words like "may" cause less suffering. Death is death. Make it quick. Know that you've ended prolonged suffering. Cervical dislocation "may" be more humane. But clearly it's fiddly and a chicken is getting to be too large for that method in my humble opinion.
My opinion is. Slit the throat. I think a killing cone generally keeps a chicken calm and feeling safe. Assuming you know how to sharpen a knife properly, I've never seen a chicken that even knows it's been cut. Just gradually loses conciousness from blood loss. No one can convince me an animal experiences pain after it looses conciousness from blood loss. And obviously the involuntary muscle spasms after death have nothing to do with conciousness or suffering. If I had a hen I cared about I would slit it's throat in a cone.
Usually, trying too hard NOT to cause suffering results in more suffering. I'm not sure why I made this long post. I guess I felt like chiming in on this one. I wish you peace of mind whatever your choose.
It is very difficult to extricate oneself from this equation. I do my best. And we should all support each other in achieving more freedom from plastic use. Encouragement and support is in order as it’s a long road. I think if we open our eyes to the obvious facts you mention, the ultimate end is an imperative to oppose hyperconvenience as you call it. I always enjoy your thoughts. Thanks!
@BPD_PRlNCESS That foggy in-between place where magic and mystery bubble into consciousness, and we try to capture it before it slips away . . . lost in the Land of Nod.
@RedVelesov Very exciting. I’m happy for you and wish you a healthy herd! Fascinating breed which I’d not heard of before. Looking forward to seeing updates in the future.
@BPD_PRlNCESS Yes. Me too. I’m not sure why I stopped either. I blame technology partially. That’s the curse of the screen right? Just mechanically. The ability to scroll. The endless page. It chips away at carefulness. Thats what I think.
