During a courtesy call in Lusaka, @hrc_zambia Chairperson @TowelaSambo emphasized the importance of institutional collaboration in promoting dignity, inclusion, access to remedies, and rights-based service delivery.

HRC-Z sensitizes Twashuka Primary School learners on rights and responsibilities

On 13th May 2026, the Human Rights Commission of Zambia (HRC-Z) sensitized 354 learners at Twashuka Primary School in Lusaka on children's rights and responsibilities.

Education and Training Officer, Mrs. Precious Kalima reminded learners about the need to ensure that they exercise their rights with due regard to the responsibilities that come with those rights.

Mrs. Kalima emphasized that rights and responsibilities are inseparable, such that one cannot enjoy human rights without fulfilling their responsibilities. In a school environment, learners must abide by school rules as part of the responsibilities that go hand in hand with their right to education.

The learners were encouraged to report any human rights violations through the Commission’s toll-free line 8181.

HRC-Z Intensifies Human Rights Sensitization Ahead of 2026 Polls

The Human Rights Commission of Zambia (HRC-Z) is carrying out legal clinics in selected districts to raise awareness on access to justice and related human rights issues.

On Tuesday, 5th May 2026, the Commission was in Siavonga and Chirundu Districts, and today, 8th May 2026, has proceeded to Mumbwa and Luangwa districts engaging various stakeholders.

The legal clinics are intended to provide members of the public with an opportunity to raise complaints, seek legal guidance and receive information on the promotion and protection of their rights as the country prepares for the 2026 General Elections.

The Commission is conducting these legal clinics with support from the European Centre for Electoral Support.
