The National Negro Anthem is called “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” not raise your voice and sing.

Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson was confirmed to the Supreme Court 53-47, mostly along party lines but with three Republican votes.

We asked our photographer, @sbmaneyphoto, to reflect on this moment she captured of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s daughter Leila, 17, smiling at her mom on the first day of the hearings: "I knew how much it revealed in her admiration for her mother as a Black woman."

57 years after Bloody Sunday.
2 years after Ahmaud Arbery.
Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson.
Our work continues, but this moment matters.
