PRESIDENT TINUBU CHANGES SERVICE CHIEFS

President Bola Tinubu has made changes in the hierarchy of the Service Chiefs in furtherance of the efforts of the Federal Government of Nigeria to strengthen the national security architecture.

The President appointed General Olufemi Oluyede to replace General Christopher Musa as the new Chief of Defence Staff. The new Chief of Army Staff is Major-General W. Shaibu. Air Vice Marshall S.K Aneke is Chief of Air Staff while Rear Admiral I. Abbas is the new Chief of Naval Staff. Chief of Defence Intelligence Major-General E.A.P Undiendeye retains his position.

The President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, expresses most profound appreciation to the outgoing Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa and the other Service Chiefs for their patriotic service, and dedicated leadership.

The President charges the newly appointed Service Chiefs to justify the confidence reposed in them to further enhance the professionalism, vigilance and comradeship that define the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

All appointments take immediate effect.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday in Lagos, met with two of Nigeria’s most prominent global investment leaders, Hakeem Belo-Osagie (Chairman, Metis Capital Partners; Senior Lecturer, Harvard Business School) and Bayo Ogunlesi (Chairman, Global Infrastructure Partners; Senior Managing Director, BlackRock). Also present at the meeting was the Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, Zacch Adedeji.

The meeting focused on unlocking large-scale investments in Nigeria’s upstream oil and gas sector and critical infrastructure projects capable of driving long-term economic transformation. Both investors commended the administration’s reforms and pointed to opportunities to leverage Nigeria’s natural resource base while modernising infrastructure in line with global standards.

Speaking, President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating a transparent, investor-friendly environment. “Nigeria is ready to collaborate with credible global partners to deliver energy security and the infrastructure that will power growth across Africa. Our sons of the soil, and other Nigerians in Diaspora are welcome partners,” President Tinubu said.

Mr. Belo-Osagie highlighted the need to align upstream oil and gas opportunities with sustainable financing models, while Mr. Ogunlesi stressed the importance of global capital in closing Nigeria’s infrastructure gap. Both expressed readiness to work with government and private sector stakeholders to deliver transformative projects.

This engagement builds on the Tinubu administration’s ongoing reforms to broaden investment opportunities and strengthen Nigeria’s position as Africa’s premier destination for global capital.

President Bola Tinubu will today, pay a working visit to Owerri, Imo State where he will commission several legacy projects by Governor Hope Uzodinma and launch a book authored by the Governor.

These projects include the Imo Concorde Hilton Hotel, the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre, the Asumpta Flyover, and the state-of-the-art Imo Digital Learning Centre. Together, these projects underscore the shared commitment of the Federal and State Government to infrastructure renewal, modernisation, and sustainable development.

Also, in line with President Tinubu's drive to position Nigeria as a digital powerhouse, Governor Uzodimma has also delivered bold strides in the digital economy through initiatives such as MylmoApp, the Imo Digital City (IDCL), and the SkillUplmo Techosphere remote work platform.

Already, more than 40,000 young people have been trained in cutting-edge digital skills, shifting from dependence on handouts to becoming globally competitive wealth creators.

The Orashi Free Trade Zone, which has attracted over seven oil and gas companies, further aligns with President Tinubu's push for industrialisation, investment, and job creation nationwide.

Governor Uzodimma's unmatched progress in infrastructure, technology, and youth empowerment not only defines his legacy in Imo State but also demonstrates the living impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
