Kame Exploit Summary – September 12, 2025

On September 12, 2025, Kame Aggregator suffered an exploit caused by a design flaw in the swap() function, which allowed arbitrary executor calls. This vulnerability enabled attackers to drain tokens from users who had granted unlimited or oversized approvals to the AggregationRouter.

Impact

Total Loss: ~$1,324,535 (USD)

Affected Users: 830 unique addresses

Primary Exploiter: 0x3A42B17f0D25de388BF0b08ffd860cdBDDdfB110

Copycat Exploiters: 11 additional addresses

Funds Recovered: ~$946,195 from the primary exploiter and ~$21,900 from white-hat hackers

Response & Mitigation

- Issued urgent user alerts instructing the revocation of contract approvals

- Coordinated with Sei Foundation, CEXs, Circle, and bridges to track funds

- Offered bug bounty and successfully negotiated partial fund return

- Initiated compensation plan design for affected users
