One detail I can't stop thinking about is the locket.

There's one major difference between the locket: in SWIM, it's always closed, It opens one time to show the compass saying SWIM. In Normal, Taehyung opens it for there to be nothing inside it.

But what if that's the point?

What if the locket was never meant to hold a photograph or an object? What if it's meant to hold a place?

Throughout literature and film, lockets and pocket watches are often used as objects that connect different realities, memories, or points in time. They're less about what's physically inside and more about what they allow the holder to access.

If that's the symbolism here, the empty locket could function almost like an escapism locket — an object that lets its owner leave reality behind and enter another emotional or psychological space. The "emptiness" isn't emptiness at all; it's a doorway.

It could even explain why SWIM keeps the locket closed. We weren't supposed to know what it did. Normal finally opens it , not to reveal an object, but to reveal that the real significance was never inside the locket itself. The act of opening it is what matters.

Whether it's a portal to memory, a form of escapism, or even a symbolic time machine, the locket seems less like jewelry and more like a key. The mystery isn't what it contains, it's where it takes you.
